Sirius woke up from a dream he instantly forgot and rolled over in bed. He wrapped one arm around Remus' waist and pulled him close. Remus made a sleepy sound of protest at being moved but shifted himself closer anyway.
Feeling suddenly wide awake, Sirius called quietly, "Moony?" No response. "Moony?" he called again.
Remus made a faint groaning sound and peered blearily through one eye up at Sirius. "Padfoot?"
"Moony, would you care to know a secret?"
Remus gave a soft snort and opened both eyes. Looking up at Sirius with a small, sleepy smile he asked, "Are you going to finally come clean about what happened to my chocolate stash last Christmas? Because I don't see how else you and James –"
"No, no. I maintain my innocence," Sirius cut him off with a grin before Remus could continue to, rightfully yet technically unbeknownst to him, accuse him of mischief with chocolate. "Besides, it was replaced tenfold. I suppose whoever took it for whatever purpose felt a tad guilty."
Remus turned his head to grin into his pillow, then turned back to face Sirius and said, "Well then, I suppose that shall remain a mystery unsolved."
Sirius was silent for a moment before putting his forehead against Remus'. "I love you, Remus."
Remus smiled and quirked an eyebrow. "Was that the secret?"
"Well… yes." Sirius leaned his face forward to kiss him. "I'm very bad at keeping this secret to myself though, you see."
"Are you? I suppose that explains why you shouted it at me just yesterday across the shop. What a truly shocking secret you've there." Remus smirked then softened and leaned forward to mumble, "I love you too, Sirius," against Sirius' lips before kissing him again.
Sirius sighed happily and pulled Remus even closer, closing his eyes again. They lay silently for a time until Sirius heard Remus' breathing pattern slow and deepen and he knew he was asleep again. Sirius soon joined him.
