AN/Disclaimer-Teeny tiny fic of a vague time/place. I don't own it but I am actually really proud of this one. Don't know why.
More often than not, it was Rusty's curiosity that got him in trouble. He couldn't help it, he was just the kind of guy who liked to investigate.
So it wasn't a big surprise to Danny that Rusty's favorite game-one of many- was 'I Have Never.' Rusty not only had a high tolerance for alcohol but also a lot of world experiences and a great poker face. If he didn't end up doing shots then he would end up collecting ideas for future adventures and Danny would be there to vouch for it.
Reuben and Saul, despite the fact that they refused to do shots, contributed a fair number of stories and forced one another to reveal some of the more colorful aspects of their long friendship.
"I've never been caught in the country of Poland."
Reuben huffed and claimed it had not been his fault.
Danny, just for fun and knowing that Rusty was incapable of holding a grudge against him, added some of the more one-sided adventures during their partnership.
"I have never managed to woo the mark's wife, her pool boy lover, and accidentally woo the mark all on the same job."
Rusty got him back by never having gotten married by Elvis.
The twins had stranger experiences and took longer to decide what constituted the boundaries of their 'Nevers.'
"Don't say it like that. That's a technicality. No one's going to drink to a big fat technicality."
"Shut up, they know what I mean."
"Who cares what you mean? We drink to what you say."
"Fine then, you say it."
"I can't say it, I did it. That's cheating."
"Fuck you. I have never got a drunk tattoo. Happy now?"
"Yes!" Turk threw back a shot and Linus, laughing under his breath, followed suit.
Danny watched Rusty's eyes flash in surprise and withheld a sigh. He could see trouble on the horizon now.
Rusty leaned into his seat with a grin. "Linus, I didn't take you for the type," he teased.
The kid flushed but shrugged coolly. "I was drunk. And nineteen. And no, you can't know what it is. Or where. And don't tell my mother."
Yes, there it was. Rusty's curiosity had come out to play. He could picture it now; everyone at the table, drinks waiting. Someone, teasing, being smart, 'I have never seen Linus's tattoo.'
And Rusty would take a shot.
