So here's another story for you guys, I'm sorry it's been so damn long. I WILL be continuing the…the one with the long name :/ (even I don't want to spell it out), but I just kind of felt like writing TamaoXChikaru. Today's been kind of awful for me, and when I write, at least I can forget everything for a little while.

It's short, but it's only the prologue- please leave a review if you want it continued!

Prologue: More than Beautiful

Tamao is such a pretty girl, Chikaru has always thought as much.

Not sexy like Shizuma, not regal like Miyuki…not determined like Shion or spirited like Yaya.

But pretty, always pretty.

And then she smiled for the first time so many years ago, and the famously unflappable Chikaru had almost fallen to pieces right there, because suddenly this pretty girl, this nothing special had become something absolutely beautiful.

And she's always had the most beautiful heart to match- Chikaru has never met such a selfless girl. For as selfish as teenagers can be, Tamao has always seemed to care about herself the last and the least. She's always been the type to give and give and give until she doesn't have enough to keep herself together, and even then she never lets herself fall apart.

For Nagisa, anything (everything) for Nagisa.

Because like all the kindest, most selfless girls, she fell too fast (too hard).

And nobody ever notices.

Nobody but Chikaru.

Because as Tamao is laughing with Nagisa, watching her dance away with Shizuma, she wears this paper thin smile, one that nobody ever looks close enough to see through, even though it surely wouldn't take more than a second glance. She's completely and utterly broken, and Chikaru thinks it has to hurt her that Nagisa hasn't noticed yet, even though she says she wants to keep her happy.

Sometimes Chikaru watches Tamao watch Nagisa when she thinks nobody's looking, sees the sad, desperate plea in those wide violet eyes- notice me, notice me please.

And she thinks maybe Tamao would be okay if Nagisa were a little less than fine now that she and Tamao hardly spoke to each other. Grieving alone has to be one of the most gut-wrenching feelings in the world, because nobody cares, do they? Nobody's crying over you, but all the while you can't get them out of your mind.

And Chikaru's fairly sure there's something more than beautiful to the sad-eyed Suzumi Tamao, but she doesn't realize what it is until she sees the girl push her love into the arms of a girl who will surely treat her heart like it's disposable. She doesn't realize what it is because for as little as she's seen Tamao truly smile, she's never seen her cry, not until today. Not until she forces her first love to choose her happiness over her own.

And yes, okay, so maybe Chikaru's just a little bit in love with her, and maybe she has been for a while now. And maybe it feels like someone's twisting a rusty knife in her gut every time she catches Tamao looking at Nagisa like that, like the world could melt away around them and she wouldn't mind.

Chikaru can't remember loving anybody before Tamao, and she can't imagine anything after, either, and it's so normal and cliché that she almost feels stupid for falling prey to this feeling.

But it's okay.

She's always so okay.

So here's a ChikaruXTamao centered fic…a while back a lot of people were asking for one, so here it is…very late :/ Please leave a review :3
