Backstory:

An Italian-American born in Brooklyn, he's 6th generation Italian, his family immigrated from Palermo in Sicily in 1908. His great-great grandfather Giuseppe joined the USMC in 1916 serving in the Banana War, France with the 5th Marine Regiment and in Russia until 1920 serving as Gunnery Sergeant before being a cop.

Joe is named after his grandfather and great-grandfather who served in the Marine Corps and the NYPD. His great-grandfather Joe fought at Peleliu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa in the Pacific before serving at Inchon, Seoul and the Chosin Reservoir until 1952 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. His grandfather Joe Jr, served in Vietnam with the Marines for 6 years attaining the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant.

His father joined the Navy SEALs in 1983 serving for 10 years and became an FDNY Firefighter. Joe's three brothers followed their father's footsteps becoming Navy SEALs as their father once was. They undergone extra training, currently serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Joe is recently discharged from the United States Marine Corps at the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant after 8 years' service, currently training to become a Police Officer whilst dealing with PTSD.
