Garfield's Disney Adventures: Hercules
Chapter 1: Prologue
It was another typical day on the farm,the sun was shining brightly with not a single cloud in the bright blue sky,and the entire US Acres gang was doing their typical daily routine. Wade the white duck that had a inflatable swimming raft around his waist was too busy worrying and being paranoid about the tiniest things,Roy the rooster was trying to find any excuse and scenario to prank someone and not being subtle about it at all,Booker the yellow chick was trying to hunt for worms in a cat and mouse style routine,Sheldon the unhatchable egg with two legs was also with Booker but merely watching him from atop a tree stump,and Orson the pig and unofficial leader of the farm was reading a book under an apple tree. The book he was reading appeared to be the tale of Hercules in a book of myths,despite him reading it plenty of times before,he just loved reading classic stories too much to care. While he was busy reading the book happily and peacefully,Booker and Sheldon suddenly walked up to him and Booker asked out of intrigue "Hi there Orson,whatcha reading there?"
"It's the myth of Hercules Booker. I'm reading it so I can possibly get braver and more heroic in case my brothers show up anytime soon." Orson replied as he careful sat down the book to which Sheldon asked slightly confused "Hercules? But didn't you already read that book before? Seems redundant if you already did."
"Well yes I did Sheldon,but it just feels so good and relaxing to just sit down read a good story. The action,the story,the characters,it truly is something remarkable if you ask." Orson replied to Sheldon's question as Booker suddenly had a lightbulb go off in his head and asked "Well Orson have you ever thought of inserting yourself into the story?"
Orson's generally happy and upbeat smile started to slowly turn into a confused frown as he pondered "Insert myself into a story? Well what else could I possibly add to the story? It's already perfect enough as it is." to which another familiar voice joined the conversation "Hey man,you never know unless you try. It sounds like fun man."
Orson and the other two animals turned around to see Bo the sheep walking towards them with his typical calm and collected demeter as Booker added ecstatically "Yeah,maybe we can all join and insert all of us into the story. Doesn't that sound like fun?"
"I suppose when you put it like that,it does sound like fun. Let's go ahead and try it!" Orson excitingly agreed with Booker and Bo's idea as they all sat around the apple tree and decided to begin their little self insertion story. Orson quickly picked up the book and was about to start all over from the beginning,but Sheldon suddenly interrupted and asked when he noticed that Roy,Wade,and Lanolin were absent "Hold on Orson,shouldn't we see if the others wanna join?"
"They'll find us out here eventually and they can join in later if they want,I'm really excited to see how this experiment goes." Orson declined to see if the other farm animals would like to join to which Sheldon replied "Well….okay. Let's get this show on the road then."
Orson then started to clear his throat for a few moments before he slowly opened the book and started to read the very first page and very first passage "Long ago,in the faraway land of Ancient Greece,there was a golden ages of powerful gods and extraordinary heroes. And the greatest and strongest of all these heroes,was the mighty Hercules. But what is the measure of a true hero? Ah,that is what our story is-"
"Will you listen to him? He's making the whole story sound like some Greek tragedy." A sassy woman suddenly interrupted Orson's narration as another woman that sounded more graceful joined in the conversation "Lighten up piggy."
"Well I'm just trying to make it sound important and authentic for the people reading this back home." Orson tried to defend himself for his overly dramatic tone of voice to which another woman polietly retorted "We'll take it from here darling."
"Oh,well do your thing girls." Orson politely accepted the women's offer to do the narration for him as they began to introduce themselves in their own little way.
"We are the muses,goddesses of the arts,and proclaimers of heroes."
"Heroes like Hercules."
"Honey you mean Hunkules! Ooh I'd like to make some sweet music with him-"
"Our story! Actually begins long before Hercules,many eons ago."
Ooh! Yeah! Back when the world was new. The planet Earth was down on its luck. And everywhere gigantic brutes called Titans ran amok.
It was a nasty place,there was a mess wherever you stepped. Where chaos reigned and earthquakes and volcanoes never slept. (Ohh sing girlfriend!)
And then along Zeus he hurled his thunderbolt. He zapped locked those suckers in a vault,they're trapped and on his own stopped chaos in its tracks! And that's the gospel truth the guy was too type a to just relaaaaaaax!
And that's the world's first dish. (Yeah baby!) Zeus tamed the globe while still in his youth. Though honey it may seem impossible,that's the gospel truth! On MT. Olympus life and sweat,and smooth as sweet vermouth. Though honey it may seem impossible,that's the gospel truuuuuuuuuuth!
Author's Note
I know the title says Garfield's Disney Adventures,but I decided to make it about the US Acres characters because I feel they don't get enough attention story wise,and also because I wanted to do a crossover story with them. But don't worry because I will give Garfield and some of his characters camoes. I was originally going to make this a crossover with Home On The Range,but I already have one in production with An American Tail,and I don't want to have to start all over again. Stay tuned for more since this is more of a side project compared to my other stuff.
