The Morning After

What happened the morning after Clarisse rejected Joesph's proposal? P.O.V's of both Clarisse and Joesph.

Joesph's P.O.V

He looked towards his alarm clock wishing he could hit the snooze button for good. However he reminded his self that he still had a job to do, even if his employer had turned him down on his marriage proposal. Today Joesph felt like a weary old man, but also a scared old man as well. Scared of the lonely and bleak future before him. 'With no one to share it with' he sadly thought. His heart was aching at the fact that she had said no. He remembered as clear as if it just happened a few moments ago, the look on her face said it all when he asked her if she had an answer. That one memory was enough for just one solitary tear to fall. Another tear fell as he looked from the alarm clock to see the box which had the ring which he was going to give her. Joesph quickly moved to look towards the celling to try to dissipate the pain he felt . After staring at the celling for a few minutes, he let out a shaky breath and got up to get ready to face the first day on being alone.

Clarisse's P.O.V

She looked up at the celling of her bedroom and softly whispered "What have I done". Without any noise, the tears had come once again. Clarisse was lying on her bed, after what very little sleep that came from the night before. She was praying to every deity that she could turn back time, just to the moment before she let him down. Clarisse was dreading the time when she would have to leave her room. However the one thing that she was dreading the most was the fact she would have to see Joesph today. With that came the one thought that was crippling her, it was the fact he would try to be emotionless, to try painstakingly not show the disappointment that would be he etched on to his face . "I am so sorry Joesph" the monarch sobbed and dove her head towards her pillow and cried. It would take her just over half an hour to stop crying, and with a heavy heart get ready for the day. 'I will see how Mia is coping' she thought, not knowing the disaster which was going to be brought upon her granddaughter within the next hour.
