I was facing off my former master in a sith temple. All my mind was thinking of was letting my friends escape, avenging Anakin, and everything I heard learned in my time as a Jedi and in my time in the rebellion. I blocked one of his strikes, then another one. This went on until I crossed my lightsabers and blocked another one of his strikes.
He looked up. I followed his line of gaze and saw the lighting from the temple spark. It was right then and there that I got an idea. I force pushed him of me and struck my lightsabers into the ground, sendind a line of cracks his way. He raised his lightsabers to strike me down, but I felt a hand grab me by the shoulder and pull me back. I saw a quick glimpse of Anakin fall through the floor, then everything went black.
When I woke up, I could see that I was in a black expanse that looked a lot like space, with white lines running across it. I slowly got up and shook my head, trying to get rid of the fogginess that had settled in my head when I heard a familiar voice call my name.
"Ahsoka?"
I turned around and saw Ezra Bridger in front of me. "Ezra?" At least he looked like Ezra, except his hair was way shorter. "You look..." Then I got up and got a full look at my surroundings. "Wait, what happened? Where am I?"
Ezra stepped forward. "You were fighting Vader." I was trying to remember what had happened after that. "I saw you in there." He motioned towards the circle. "He was going to... so I-I j-I grabbed you, and I pulled you out of there."
Then it all came crashing back to me. "Anakin..." Just as I remembered, I heard a hooting noise. I looked up and saw my fateful companion.
"Morai, you're here." She flew down from her perch and landed on my arm.
"Morai?" Ezra asked.
"She's an old friend," I explained as I petted her, which was a simple way of putting it. "I owe her my life." I looked back at Ezra. "And now I owe you that as well. How did you get here? And where's Kanan?"
Ezra got a somber look on his face. "You've missed a lot."
Once Ezra's news about Kanan sank in, I gave myself a moment of silence, then started to look around.
"This place is ancient," I said. "Like a world between worlds."
"Yeah," Ezra said, "It feels like that dream where I met Dume."
"The creature named Dume... you said he appeared after Kanan died? That has to be more than a conquincidence."
"I know. Caleb Dume, a wolf named Dume... what does it mean?"
"Perhaps Kanan's will is still at work through the wolf."
Ezra looked confused. "How could that be?"
"Well, Kanan is part of the cosmic force now. There are ways those who have passed on may still guide or influence the living. It's not impossible."
"But if it was Kanan who sent me here..." Ezra looked deep in thought.
"What is it?"
"I thought I was here to stop the Empire, but then I found you. Don't you see?"
"You think that Kanan sent you here to help me."
"Not just you. I can save Kanan just like I saved you!"
"Ezra." This was a bad idea. If he rescued Kanan, it could have a drastic effect on the future. However, before I could tell him, he ran off. "Ezra, wait!" Morai and I went after him.
