Aidan comes just before its too late, pulling Emily away from Josh just in time. The large steel door sealing Josh off until the morning, Aidan looks forward into the small Plexiglas opening to see Josh nod his head in thanks before falling forward with pain and relief.
"Come upstairs with me." Aidan sounds forceful, and Emily follows him back into the hospital. Through the twists and turns of the hallways a familiar staircase appears and he leads Emily into the hospital mess hall. They talk, mostly about Josh. She asks repeatedly about what happened in the basement. Aidan merely refers to it as "Josh's condition," and continues to keep her busy. He talks to her like this until, the sun finally rises and, she leaves to return to Jackie.
Aidan makes his way back to Josh's cage, and looks through the small opening to see the younger man sprawled out on the floor still in the nude. He pauses for a moment before opening the door.
"Josh? Are you okay?" Aidan doesn't expect to hear a choked sob to come from him, and he's not exactly sure what to do with Josh. Moving might make him nervous, trying to soothe him could set him on edge, and talking probably won't work. Aidan's running through thousands of possibilities, and his concentration is only broken when Josh lets out another strangled sob.
His fingers begin to awkwardly run through his hair, in an attempt to soothe him. Josh doesn't react to the contact and continues to cry.
"Josh, what's wrong, you're going to have to tell me sooner or later." Aidan whispers, and continues stroking Josh's hair, and to his surprise Josh speaks up.
"I could have killed her…I could have killed my own sister…I'm really a monster." It comes out between gasps for breaths, and Aidan can most defiantly tell he's having a difficult time with this. Josh lets out a gasp as Aidan forces him into a sitting position, and Josh suddenly becomes very aware of his lack of clothing. He makes for a grab at his pants, before Aidan forces his shirt on the smaller man, and hoists him in his arms.
"Hey, put me down!" Josh sniffles slightly as he tries to squirm free from the vampires iron grip. He squirms and tries all he can to free himself from Aidan's arms, but stops when he realizes they've moved into the locker rooms, so he can change into his scrubs. "Thanks." Josh looks down mortified he was just found sobbing and naked by his roommate.
"It's not a problem, sometimes you just have to let it out." Josh gives a small nod, before getting his scrubs on, and getting ready for the day. Both Aidan and Josh put the thoughts of the morning behind them for work, Josh almost hopes to forget it, but something tugs at his heart and he won't forget. Aidan on the other hand can't get the thought out of his head, and he thinks of what might become of this, and if they can act the same around each other.
When the day ends, neither mentions the incident, both know more than any amount of words can express. Regret, embarrassment, but most of all hope. Hope for something more, hope to be human.
A.N: My first attempt at slash ever, not very good but I enjoyed working on it, and hope to have a few more stories out before Monday.
