"Promise not to freak out, okay?"
"Okay."
He steps forward then waits silently. Her face screws up to show her confusion. What is it that he wants to show her?
"Oh, right. Try moving," he suggests and his girlfriend listens, his expression ashamed once she realized that she couldn't move. He frowns as he watches her struggle. "Pretty weird, huh?"
She hears the nervousness in his voice and she knows the first thing should do is to comfort him, but she doesn't. Trying to keep her voice as steady as possible, she asks, "How are you doing this?"
Kido shoves his hands into his pockets. eyes avoiding hers. "I...I don't know, but...there's others like me, too."
"Really?"
"Yeah," he says. He pauses, stepping away from her shadow. "Look...if you want-if you wanna break up...I won't be mad at you. Being with someone like me, it's probably too much-"
"Asato."
The sternness in her voice alarms him, but stands as firm as he's able. He simply watches while she approaches him, not knowing what to expect. Her hands close around his face, fingers stroking at his heated skin. He's stiff as a board when her lips lock onto his. His arms hover uselessly above the small of her back for a moment before wrapping around her waist.
She breaks away, smiling up at him. "I'd be the dumbest person alive if I broke up with you 'cause of some superpower you've got."
Kido smiles, his blush only intensifying when she peck him on the cheek. "You...You mean it?"
"Of course, I do." Grabbing his hand, she nods your head. "Whatever's going on, we'll get through it together. It's always been that way with us, remember?"
He squeezes her hand. "Yeah."
