Cave Johnson, CEO of Aperture Laboratories, the man on top of the world, laid in his deathbed, sick as a dog. He was now half the man he was since he had been diagnosed with moon rock poisoning. The only thing that didn't change was that he was surrounded by machines. Cave was surrounded by different machinery, not by any AIs or any other machines, but he was surrounded by life support machines. He coughed and chuckled weakly as his assistant, and the love of his life, Caroline brought him some tea. "H-ha ha... Why didn't I listen to the lab boys...? Ha, why didn't I listen to you...? I mean, Hell, even *I* should've known that this would've been a bad idea... The Propulsion and Repulsion Gel didn't do quite as well... We didn't sell as much because of the number of people who died... Our stocks went down... Tsk, the White Gel, it... It messed me up, kiddo..." The older male covered his mouth with his hands balled into a fist. Caroline simply looked at her beloved with tears forming in her eyes.

The brunnete sighed as she stroked her lover's cheek. Just as he did, many years ago. That song she first heard on an Aperture-brand Radio played in her head as she began to reminisce about all of the times the two spent together, both good and bad. "Only a moment ago we had nothing but time... Everything lasted forever and you were all mine... Only a dream, I know.. Thinking you'd never go..." She sang softly to as a tear managed to escape her eye. Cave's heart rate slowed down. The gray-haired male smiled softly as he heard her sing. He held her hand and assured that everything was going to be alright.. Except Caroline knew it wasn't going to be alright. She knew that as soon as Cave passed on, their daughter would be alone because Caroline was going to be put into the Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System... She simply nodded as she stifled a sob.

Cave coughed as he slowly closed his eyes, his grip on Caroline's hand became loose. Caroline closed her eyes as she continued to sing. "There in the frame of your face in the cast of your eyes. " Caroline looked at Cave's closing gray eyes. " I saw this coming but still I am caught by surprise. All of this time I knew, that I'd be losing you... That doesn't mean that it's okay... That doesn't mean I'm ready. Fold my heart up small..Or break it into pieces.. Find somewhere and keep it there.. Take it when you go..." Cave placed a finger on Caroline's lips and smiled weakly. "Hey, kid...? I... Love you..." The man flat lined after he said his last three words.

Caroline sobbed as she held Cave's hand and she finished her chorus. "...When you go..." The strong-willed assistant of former CEO Cave Johnson got on her knees and cried.
