Forever and For Always

A deep sigh erupted from the black mage as she lay beneath a large palm and a beautiful sunset. She felt completely and utterly at peace here, in the still hush of the picturesque scenery…

She heard the footsteps coming her way before she saw them, trudging through the sand, displacing a lot of it and causing it to settle in her hair. She didn't so much as look up to regard the intruder or to scold them- it was only Wakka.

He looked surprised to see her, 'Lu?' he said and she nodded.

'Can't you tell?'

'Yeah,' he said, 'just di'n think-'

'Please stop talking, Wakka,' Lulu ordered, 'sit and watch the sun go down with me.'

'So this is where you've been,' said Wakka, obliging.

Lulu hmmed thoughtfully but Wakka was to receive no more of an answer.

'It's pretty, ya?'

'I swear I told you to stop talking,' said Lulu and she was rewarded with a sheepish grin, 'that's what I thought.'

There was a good, comfortable silence for a while, as they lay side-by-side, arms stretched out behind their heads to act as a cushion, watching the sunset with dream-like smiles on their faces.

Surprisingly, though she chided Wakka's attempts, it was Lulu who broke the silence, 'so much has changed since we met, Wakka,' she said in a voice that seemed almost sad, 'things are still changing and I can't stop it. Everyone's choosing a different path… leaving us, one way or another…'

He was surprised by her melancholy tone of voice and felt an indescribable urge to help her, to make her feel better, as though it was his burden and not hers to carry, 'maybe that ain't such a bad thing, ya?' he laughed in an attempt to set her smiling, 'I dunno where I'd be if you controlled the world.'

Lulu looked surprised for a moment before joining him in his laughter, 'I do,' she said smilingly.

'Where, ya?'

'With me,' Lulu replied, taking his large brown hand in her small white one with a smile to melt the devil's heart, 'forever and for always.'

Dear Faithful Readers,

Just some background info on this uber short fic: It all came from the phrase "Forever and For Always" which I used in the first story I have record of writing. I've always liked it, though I don't know why. Yeah, the fic stemmed from the very last part, ya know, I just had to add it the first bit so it made sense. Because generally when I write things that don't make sense people think it's a bad thing. Go figure!

Me, I'm fine no making sense but I hope this does, for your sake and for mine if you happen to live by Rent-a-Mob, which if you don't I suggest you move to. You never know when you might need an angry mob, especially in my stories.

Much Love,

Kuris
