This is just a little few-shot about what I wish happened with Delena during and after the car ride in 3x03. Please Review. DISCLAIMER: I do not own TVD, because if I did, we would have seen some sweet Delena lovin' by now!

GENERAL POV

Elena Gilbert was sitting in a car, next to the brother of her boyfriend. He had a pensive look on his face, but he said nothing as a few tears threatened to escape her eyes. She wanted to be angry with Damon, but she couldn't, not really. He had tried to warn her. Stefan was gone. She had just been in too deep of a denial to admit it to herself.

Maybe he just said that to make me go away, so I would be safe… But then, why would he say it to Damon all those times before me? She thought, finally letting silent tears fall down her face at the thoughts rushing through her head. She turned towards the window, so that Damon wouldn't see her cry. She didn't want him to feel any more guilty than he did already.

"Here." Damon said, reaching into the glove compartment and pulling out an unused fast food napkin.

Elena sniffed and offered a weak smile before taking the napkin and dabbing under her eyes. "Thank you." She said, casting her eyes in his direction.

"Yeah. Sure." Damon mumbled, keeping his troubled eyes on the road.

"No. Really, Damon." Elena added as she covered his hand on the gear shift with her's. "Thank you. For everything."

Damon's blue eyes looked pained as he answered, "Don't mention it."

Elena took her hand off of his, turned toward the window, and continued to agonize over Stefan's fate. Eventually, her deep thought turned into deep sleep. When she woke up, she realized she was being carried.

"What do you know? Sleeping Beauty's finally awake." Damon said with his usual smirk as he carried her up yet another flight of stairs.

"Damon, where are we?" Elena asked, looking around with sleepy eyes.

"A motel." Damon said.

"Why? We could have driven through the night. It's not the far to home." Elena protested struggling to get out of the vampire's arms and walk up the stairs on her own.

"Since I was the one driving while you took a cat nap, maybe I should be the one to decide where and when we stop." Damon answered shortly, finally letting Elena down from his arms.

"Fine." Elena huffed, standing upright. "Can you at least tell me where we are?"

"West Virginia. Charleston." Damon answered as Elena continued to follow him up the stairs. He stopped at room 502. "Here we are." he said, using a keycard to open the door.

Elena walked through the door after him. "Where's our stuff?" she asked.

"Already here. I brought it up before I got you." Damon answered, going into the bathroom to splash water on his face.

"You left me in a parking lot, asleep, in the middle of the city? What is wrong with you?" Elena demanded.

"Relax. I turned the car alarm on. And besides, I'm a vampire. I would have been down there in three seconds flat if anything happened to you." Damon answered.

"Yeah, right. You probably would have just let someone take me off your hands." Elena said sarcastically, regretting it immediately once she saw the dejected look in Damon's eyes. "I'm sorry. That was below the belt. I really appreciate what you've done for me, Damon. Forgive me?" Elena said, placing her hand on his shoulder and looking into his eyes.

"Already forgotten." Damon said with a small smile. Then, he placed a ghost of a kiss on her forehead and walked passed her into the room.

Elena felt stupid as she blushed from the small kiss. What the hell is wrong with me? She asked herself.
