"Alfred."

He dared to lookup. He dared to fly. He dared to try to reach the sun. He opened his eyes for a second… And then he fell. He closed his eyes and looked away. Not again. He wouldn't make the same mistake again.

"Alfred."

He squeezed his eyes shut until he could see the sparks and the lights and all the spaces between. The infinite moments of light between him and the man before him.

"Please. Just... look at me."

It hurt. It hurt so much but he knew if he opened his eyes and looked into those green ones, his resolve would crumble, and then the world would end.

"Alfred. You're the stars to me. Damn you, you know I hate making speeches like this. But you're the stars. You shine through the darkness and bring hope. But sometimes you're so far away that the dream of seeing you again is nearly impossible. But I see you now… And I can't let you disappear again."

Alfred finally looked up, the words solidified in his mind. His blue eyes locked on the green and then he went back. Green eyes that laughed. Green eyes that cried. Green eyes that hid from the world. Green eyes that would never know the truth.

"Alfred please just… just say something…"

"If I'm the stars than you're the sun. You don't just shine through the darkness. You rule it. You bring the good, the bad, the light, and the darkness. And what are the stars to the sun?"

Okay, this came to me at 6 in the morning. So I'm not entirely sure if this is a one shot or not. But I like it.
