A leather jacket. The first thing she noticed when she moved in.
There were 2 boys, a man, and a little girl in the living room. She knew their names.
Her eyes were drawn to the boy in the leather jacket.
Every night she sneaks into his room just to wear it for a few minutes.
It smelled just like him. His cologne, Calvin Clein, was on it.
Sometimes she would steal it for the night and sleep with it on. She put it back before he woke up though.
This night was different.
She snuck into his room and grabbed his jacket. She looked over to the bed and checked if he was asleep.
The jacket went on her. The warm leather engulfing her.
She rubbed her arms, closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.
"Feels nice doesn't it?'' a boy's voice asked. She jumped.
A boys hands rested on her hips and turned her towards him.
"Oh...I...ummm," she stuttered looking for the words to say.
"Casey, its ok." he said.
Casey looked up into his brown eyes and knew he meant it.
"I just wanted to try it on. All your blonde bimbos seem to like it,'' Casey mumbled. He nodded with a smirk on his face.
"Derek, you asshole. Why are you smirking?" she said.
"Because this isn't the first time you tried this on," Derek said pointing at the jacket.
Casey was speechless. How did he know about her late night adventures for this jacket.
"Your not that quiet when you come in here. Anyway you look nice in this," he said mumbling the last part.
Casey felt the smirk on her face. For the first time she noticed how nice it was to talk with Derek.
She looked at his lips then his eyes then his chest thinking of what to do.
"Casey-" Derek started to say before he was cut off by her lips on his.
Casey was on her tiptoes when she kissed him. She pulled back before Derek could respond.
She started biting her lip.
"I'm sorry. Here's your jacket. I won't borrow it anymore," Casey said slipping out of the jacket. Derek didn't say anything.
She handed him the jacket and left the room in a jog to hers.
Morning
Casey turned over in her bed to turn the alarm off without opening her eyes.
She knew what today was. Valentines Day and she had broken up with Max a couple days ago and kissed Derek last night.
Casey sighed and opened her eyes. A gasp escaped her mouth.
On her table was a red box with a blue bow. Her favorite colors. Next to the box were yellow daisies. Her favorite flowers.
She opened the box carefully. Inside was a card with a gift wrapped up. She opened the card.
Dear Case,
I know how you and Max broke up and that today is Valentines Day. I hope maybe we could spend today together. If you stayed long
enough last night maybe I would have had time to react to that kiss of yours. After you open your present come to my room.
from,
your loving stepbrother Derek
Casey had tears on her face when she opened the gift.
There in front of her was Derek's famous leather jacket. She smiled and grabbed it before grabbing the jacket and running to his room.
"There you are," he said when she entered the room.
When he saw her bright smile on her face he grabbed her around the waist and kissed her.
When the came apart she looked into his eyes. "Yes, I'll spend today with you. Anyday you want I will spend with you," she said.
Derek put his mouth next to her ear and whispered,"You didn't put the jacket on." Casey giggled as she put it on.
It's amazing how from beginning to end the thing that never changed was the famous leather jacket.
