Watching the Stars
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter - or anything you recognize anyways.
Little freeverse one-shot for Katie Bell. Kinda sad at first, but it gets happier.
You scream & shout
but whatever you try to do is useless.
His face is drained from all color, his eyes dull from all liveliness
& a ghost of a smile on his lips.
you scream & you would rather die now
& be with him instead living without him.
. . . . .
Little Katie Bell, where's all your courage & determination?
What happened to all of your spunkiness?
"It died with him." you say & you sink to the ground
Your hands wiping the tears away
"The world is over!" you say, with as much anger & power you can muster
Then a hand in placed on your shoulder
& you think you see him
but it's George freaking Weasley, his bloody twin
& you suddenly hug him with as much force you have left
& you place a watery kiss on his cheek.
"You lost so much more," you say, "and I'll help you every step of the way."
You're all on the same boat, anyways.
. . . . .
You lived through the battle, yes, but a part of you died,
the liveliness & spunkiness you had when you were younger
but you gained something more.
You helped rebuilt a world that was being torn by the seams
& you repaired the lives of those who lost so much.
A little smile can go a long way.
. . . . .
You never married, & never had any kids.
You just watched your friends grow older & enjoy their lives to the full extent
though you knew there wasn't a replacement for him.
George & Angelina got married & had kids
& lived a merry life together for seventy-two years.
Alicia had a kid & moved to the states, but kept in touch.
Only Lee watched with you, sitting up on a hill,
staring at the stars – wondering where he is now.
. . . . .
You sat on the same hill on the 2nd of May,
remembering the old days – the ones filled with laughter & joy,
rule-breaking & rebellion, then you miss the times
where you hung around with your friends.
The spot next to you is empty,
having Lee pass away to the stars – where you know he's watching you
. . . . .
You outlived them all – at the ripe, old age of 126,
your brown-hair turn gray & white,
your calloused fingers into wrinkly ones
& your laughter into a hoarse noise
Your eyes are as brown as ever,
seeing the stars as bright as they can be,
& you slip away for all eternity
. . . . .
You wake up in a garden full of flowers
& you know you're dead.
There's Fred & George, back to their seventeen year-old selves,
George with both ears anyways.
Lee, with his signature dreadlocks, flirting with Angelina,
& Alicia hand and hand with Oliver.
Harry Potter is here too – lying on the grass with Ginny,
Ron & Hermione were playing tagged - team wizard chess with Percy & Arthur,
& Molly scolding her twin – brothers, but smiling at the same time.
Up above in the sky are the stars - where you are now, waiting for the next generation to come.
Well, I guess you're free to comment & such.
