These characters are not mine, they are from the amazing comic KaitoShuno on smackjeeves by the lovely AngelPerez. This story came to me as I was rereading the comic for about the hundredth time.

Train Ride

Shuno walks through the train, holding both Kaito and his coffee along with a bag of treats for the train ride home. He shifts one of the coffees to have a free hand as he opens the curtain, his eyes drifting to where Kaito was staring out of the window in what looked to be deep thought.

"You wanted cream, right," Shuno asks, shocking Kaito out of his thoughts. Kaito's beautiful blue eyes turn to him, looking as if he had no idea what Shuno was talking about. "Cream… on your coffee, Kaito-kun?" Kaito nods, saying something but still in his stupor. Shuno places the coffee down, within Kaito's reach. He then heads to his spot, pulling out the snack he had gotten them. It wouldn't be for another half hour until they arrived and he was sure they were both kinda hungry with running around the mall all day.

The snack he was pulling out caught Kaito's attention fully. "What's that?"

"Apple dumplings," Shuno supplies. He had already knew Kaito would be suspicious of this treat, but he was sure Kaito would like them once he tried it.

"They look weird," Kaito states. Shuno wanted to laugh at the face Kaito made. Instead of laughing, he tells Kaito to try one. After all, they were not going to kill him no matter how 'weird' they looked. "No way! Those things look like they're explosive-"

Shuno grabs one, standing up and stuffing it into Kaito's mouth. "They're really good. Now open up your pretty mouth and eat." Kaito's furious expression was so adorable. Kaito quickly eats the dumpling, getting ready to start ranting at Shuno.

"Where the fuck do you get off shoving food into my mouth," He starts, but the whole ranting stops before it could begin. Kaito's eyes were lighting up and he looks at the apple dumplings.

Before Shuno knew it, Kaito was stuffing his face. He knew Kaito would like them. Shuno leans back, drinking his coffee and watching Kaito. He would never get tired of watching the man in front of him. He could not help the smile on his face. He finally introduced Kaito to one of the most important people in his life and then they spent the rest of the day having fun. Not to mention he got to see Kaito holding Elly.

"I had fun today, Kaito-kun," Shuno says, watching Kaito continue to stuff his face.

Kaito pauses in eating his apple dumpling. "Yea, me too," He mutters.

That was a shock to Shuno. He never thought that Kaito would just say it that easily. "You did," Shuno asks, not believing he had heard the man correctly. Shuno reaches out, gently touching Kaito's hand. Kaito stops reaching for another dumpling to look at Shuno, a confused look to his face. Kaito couldn't help staring at the smile on Shuno's face. "I love you." Shuno had never meant it more. There was no instant pulling away from Kaito, just a look of shock and a faint blush on his face, but there was not a word from him.

One day, maybe one day soon, Kaito would say 'I love you too'. Today was not the day, but every day they were getting closer and closer. He would wait, he would always wait. It did not matter if it happened tomorrow, a few months from now, or a year or two down the road. He would wait forever to hear those words from Kaito's lips. He would wait because he loved the man across him. He stands up, leaning over the table and kissing Kaito lightly on the forehead. The blush on Kaito's face intensifies and Shuno falls back into his seat. Silence is the only companion they have as they head home. Shuno didn't mind the silence, he was happy enough to walk at Kaito's side.
