"What's that sound?" Lou Ferretti turned around looking for the source of what he'd heard. "Or, rather, who was that?" He corrected after only seeing a few of the other tables at the commissary filled with people, SG-1 sitting at one of them. Ferretti shook his head, thinking he must have heard wrong because he was positive it was from that table the sound had come. Someone had laughed. That in itsef wasn't unusal at all as people did laugh at the SGC too. It was who laughed that bugged the seasoned airman. It certainly wasn't O'Niell because Ferritti reckognised that man's laughter as easily as he knew his own. It definitely wasn't Carter for the laugh was distinctly male. As far as Ferretti knew - and you never knew what could happen now that they'd opened the gate - she was still female.

"Teal'c?" he asked Siler who was sitting beside him.

The master technician shook his head. "No, Sir. Never heard him laugh."

Ferretti looked around the comissary again. The conversations were back on track now, the laughter having momentarily stopped everyone in their tracks. Looking at Siler again he asked silently as if it was the most unheard thing of in the world "Dr. Jackson?"

Siler stared back at him. "I don't know, Sir. I haven't heard him laugh like that either."

Then it happened again and Ferretti couldn't help but want to join in. The sound rippled forth, deep and rich and joyful and he saw now because the source of that unfamiliar sound was looking right at him, blue eyes shining, face lit up like a beacon. It was Daniel. Ferretti laughed right back at him. If Daniel bellylaughed then certainly all was well in the world because Ferretti had till this day never seen or heard anything more than what a quick flex of face muscles and politeness could bring forth in terms of genuine smiles and laughter from that man. Neither had everyone else it seemed. The comissary was dead quiet except for the sweet afternath of Daniels laughter.

"Well," Siler said. "If Dr. Jackson can laugh that heartily then we're safe. I don't know anyone except perhaps General Hammond, who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders like he does."

"Yeah," Ferretti agreed. "If Daniel can be that happy, then we all can."
