Prologue
This was it... The reason she had come to this place. Water as far as the eye can see, sunset painting the sky in an array of beautiful colors, the warm sand that always felt nice as it worked its way around her toes as she walked, and it was perfect. This was her spot. A place where she could always go and feel at home. She walked in the sand along the shoreline thinking about all that had transpired in her life lately. The bounds of her troubled heart were vast, but those bounds couldn't compare to the size of the ocean. She walked toward the water and began to wade into the shallows, enjoying the refreshing feel of the water. She never could explain it, but she had always felt more at home while in the water. As she took in her surroundings, she noticed that where her reflection should be was something different entirely. Instead of her familiar features, she saw that she was a fish with shimmering scales that sparkled in the setting sun . In her surprise she didn't think to question what was happening, and she did all she could do. She began to swim out into the endless ocean to try and escape the pain that was in her troubled heart, but no matter how far she swam she could not elude the twinge she felt every time she thought about him. She started swimming down, deeper and deeper, until the water grew murky with blackness. As she was thinking about what had happened between them, another denizen of the deep blue sea was making its way in her direction... All of the sudden gaping jaws were around her, and as they clamped down on her, she awoke screaming in a cold sweat.
