Blood.

I slumped against the wall, the pain in me leg not quite overpowering the pain in my skull. He came at me, his hands shaped like claws and his teeth bared.

He braced his hands on my thighs, his nails digging into my skin. His nose skimmed my collarbone until his lips found my neck. His lips were soft yet strong. It was as if he would kiss me. Suddenly…

He grabbed my hand and sank his teeth into my veins and the unbearable pain took over my body. He was then flung away from me, my angel coming to save me. I screamed from the burning in my blood.

Then I was swept into an abyss of darkness, free of pain and free of being.

As I dipped in and out of conscience, I could see flicks of orange and red, I could hear screams then silence, shouting, always shouting.

I heard him before I saw him. An angel coming to take me to heaven.

"Bella, please! Bella, listen to me, please, please, Bella please!" he begged.

"Carlisle!" the angel called out, agony in his perfect voice. "Bella, Bella, no, oh please, no, no!" and the angel was sobbing tearless, broken sobs.
