Prologue

She had to keep going; even it was only for Little Fire's sake. But it hurt so bad, it would be nice to just lie down for a while and close her eyes, just for a little while. Groaning with pain and effort, she slid of her horse, put Little Fire down on a grassy patch next to the bushes and lied down next to her. She managed to stay awake for a short while, long enough to notice the bloodstain on her abdomen had started growing again and faintly hear horses approaching. She tried to move herself and Little Fire closer to the bushes, but the effort caused her to lose consciousness. Her last thought went to the small baby next to her, before everything went black and the pain faded away.
