Author's Note:

As soon as the episode S06E14, 'Dressed to Kill'

came to a close, this idea came into my head.

I thought it was sweet.

These Shattered Walls

With her hand on his arm and her forehead touching his, Beckett looked at her fiancé sincerely. She moved her hand down from his arm and into his hand, interlacing their fingers.

"There's some place I want to show you," she said backing away and standing up, still holding his hand.

"Now?"

"Now is perfect."

Castle stood and the two of them grabbed their coats.

"So where are we going," Castle asked.

"You'll see."

When they arrived the night was cold and bitter and silent. There were a few lights in the area but not enough to light it completely. Beckett didn't mind, she often found that coming here at night offered a different kind of stillness and tranquility than the daylight could bring.

Beckett's arm was hooked with Castle's whose hand was placed in his pocket. He looked down at the gravestone seeing the name of Kate's mother, the stone etched with the day she was born and the day she died and the Latin phrase, 'Vincit Omnia Veritas,' which translated to 'Truth Conquers All'.

"I know it's not the same," Beckett said breaking the silence, "but I thought you two should meet." She looked at the grave, "Mom this is Rick Castle, you're future son-in-law." She looked into Castle's eyes, "Castle, this is my mom. You're the first guy I've ever brought here."

Castle unhooked his arm and wrapped that arm around Beckett. She leaned her head on his shoulder and he placed a kiss on her forehead.

"Then I'm honored, thank you Kate." Castle looked at the stone as well, "I'll take good care of her Mrs. Beckett, I promise."

The couple stayed a little while longer, letting the night wash over them and praying to whatever it was they believed in that Johanna was looking down at them and finally seeing that her daughter's walls had been broken and that she was happy.
