Summary: Lying to House has an up side.

----

"You told me you had to work late last night."

Wilson sighed as he heard House from the doorway of his office. He'd been minding his business reading over a medical brief and what would you know, House wanted to come dump a big pile of guilt in his lap. It wasn't like he hadn't wanted to tell him about Cuddy's baby, but she had asked him not to so he didn't. Simple.

Except House didn't make anything simple.

"I wanted to tell you." He explained. "She told me not to. So I didn't."

"You didn't not tell me. You deliberately told me a lie to break plans with me." There was a slight tone of hurt in House's voice. "So you could go play house with Cuddy."

Wilson caught the tone of jealously in that statement immediatly and sighed. "What's the matter? Feeling left out? Maybe if you hadn't been such an ass about her trying to get pregnant she would've included you."

"Left out of what?" He snorted in retort. "She isn't ready for a baby. It's too bad she can't figure that out without actually adopting one first."

"This would be why she didn't want you to know."

"What I want to know is, why did you lie to me?" His eyes were a stormy blue now, staring Wilson down with a mixture of betrayl and anger.

"You said everyone lies!" Wilson snapped at House. "You're quite an experienced liar yourself!"

"The difference is that I lie for a reason!" House stated in a hard, disarmingly cold tone and slammed the office door behind him.

And, even though it was hard to admit, Wilson knew he was right. He wasn't sure why he had kept loyalty over Cuddy to loyalty over to House, but he wondered if something was going on inside of him like a woman's biological clock.

He left the office and stopped at the drug store on the way home to pick up some extra KY. The reaming he was going to get when he got home would be on an epic scale, but it would leave House feeling better and he couldn't help but smirk a little as he thought about how good it would make him feel.
