Sora never was one of the popular one's on Destiny Island. Sure, he had friends, but they weren't really good friends. His one, true best friend was Riku, and even then, he hung out mostly with the others. Now, Sora wasn't one you would call 'good-looking'. He had poor eye-sight, so he had to wear glasses, covering bright blue eyes that rivaled the sky. If his face wasn't so oily and blemished, it would have been covered with a rich golden glow that came from spending most of his time outdoors. His hair looked like birds nested in it regularly, no matter how hard he tried to tame the chocolate locks. He was slightly pudgy, also. It didn't matter how much he ran or swam, it didn't go away. Some of the kids, when they thought he couldn't hear or see them, would point and laugh at him. And it hurt. The people he called friend made fun of him because he wasn't 'perfect'. But what he lacked in appearance, he more than made up for in personality.

That's what drew Riku to him in the first place. The teen doted on the boy and protected him when he could from the awful teasing of his peers. He was one of the ones that everyone looked up to. Silver hair fell to just above his shoulders in silky strands, bringing out his aqua colored eyes. He was lean and toned from exercising and brushing up on his 'sword skills'. Slightly taller than the others, he towered over Sora by a full head, not that either minded. Though one did. One that claimed to be a friend of Sora's.

Kairi. She appeared on the islands one day, out of no where. Her red hair was styled in a rather boyish cut, framing her smallish face and blue eyes. Blue eyes that weren't as bright or as clear as Sora's. Something she was jealous of. She was also jealous of all the attention that Riku gave to the smaller boy. It just wasn't fair. Why did he have to have all the attention. She was the one without the past, with no family. She should be the one to get the attention. So she strove to steal it all away. But the sky eyed boy just took it all in stride and she hated him.

She vowed, one day, to steal it away from him for good.

Sora sat in his room, thinking about the raft that he, Riku and Kairi were building. Their way off the island, he thought fondly. It wasn't that he didn't like the islands, on the contrary, he loved it, but it got boring after a while. So as he sat there pondering, the clouds over head blackened, and the heavens opened, releasing a torrential down pour. Sora bolt from his bed and gasp, "The raft!"

He quickly got dressed, pulled his shoes on and climbed out of his window, not even shouting to his mother that he was going out, not that she would care. He ran to the docks and unhitched his boat, rowing as fast as he could too the other island. When he got there, he noticed Riku and Kairi's boats were there also. He quickly made his way to land from the docks, heedless of the stinging rain, "Riku! Kairi!"

He looked around, unable to see much of anything. Then before he could take another step forward, several black creatures appeared, seemingly from nowhere. The bug-like creatures swarmed around him. Blue eyes widened in terror as he took off, trying to out run them. He was about to go to the secret place when he saw something shining on the Paopu Island. He went over, crossing the bridge and dodging the shadow creatures. He slowed down when he reached it, staring down as what was shining. It was some sort of giant key. Why was a giant key sitting in the middle of an island? He shrugged and picked it up. It's weight felt familiar and comforting.
