Take 5

By Netbug009

There was the quiet sound of snow rapidly crunching under hooves late that Friday evening. "Run," he screamed inside. Nothing asked where he would go, or what he would do. He just wanted out of there.

But that was one of the backsides of hiding away from the world on an island in the middle of nowhere; there's only so far you can run. But he wasn't satisfied standing at the shore. He was still too close to his old life. He wanted to run farther. To run to the other side of the world, and farther if it was possible. So he kept running. The waves tried to pull his feet back home. He refused to take order from them. The waves moved higher up his legs and hit him harder.

Pound.

Tmp. Tmp. Tmp.

Pound.

Tmp. Tmp. Tmp.

Pound.

The waves pushed him over.

He filled with great confusion moments later. What was happening? Why couldn't he move?!

He stopped, and considered just letting himself drown. It would get him out of there, wouldn't it? You can't be much farther from that then if you're gone. Back there, everything hurt. In his world, he was the biggest loser on the island, and while he still knew little about those lands out there the doctor had mentioned, he felt that it wouldn't be much different away from this place.

The doctor...Would the doctor want this? He had everybody against him too, and he never gave in. In fact, he didn't even hide like Chopper was doing now. He lived to help others and to love others, even if they would rather see him dead. Would the doctor want him to throw away everything like this?

Did Chopper want to throw away everything like this?

There had to be more than just hiding the dying. He wanted to catch it in his hands and apply it to himself. He didn't understand it yet, but he knew that he wouldn't gain it in his current situation.

He knew now that nothing good came from death.

"Somebody help me... Please..."

The waves he had cursed before pushed him back to land.
