I felt cheated. Angry. Cursed. Everybody seemed to have it in for me, even
my mother's evee, Vinee, who had bitten me only this morning.
My name is David, Dave for short, and I am as unlucky as it gets.
But the worst of my luck began only two days ago, when professor Elm received an urgent message from his college, professor oak, about some sort of new discovery. He left for pallet town, and he took all my dreams with him. You see, today is the day. the day I was meant to get my pokemon, so that I can start my journey. But the man who was there this morning, to hand out the pokemon, was the father of my best friend Mary. And he hated me. I was the first there (like I'm the first to everything. My mother is insufferably efficient) and he told me to go and wait in a room off to the side of the main lab. Now, an hour later, I immerged to find all but two of the pokeball's gone. Here's where my 'how could you do this to me, I've never done anything to you' emotion kicked in. there was no room in me for anything but rage.
But all the stupid man had done was smile silkily, and say
"Oh. I'm sorry, but you're the one that turned up late. Why don't you go home? I'm afraid these two poke balls are empty."
I walked right up to him, very calmly, met his eyes. A single tea rolled down my face, and he looked quite shaken. I believe he was only grasping the immensity of what he had done, for he of all people knew best that I'm not a crying person.
But I didn't give him time to fully understan. No- I hit him in the face. Now, you must understand that I am gentle by nature, and I'm not violent. But I'm very strong. And I put everything I had and more into that blow. He just fell to the floor, blood running freely from his broken nose, and I picked up the poke ball that lay on a workstation, in a far corner of the lab. I hoped he got in Sirius trouble for losing it.
Then I left, even more tears making fresh furrows on my face.
That brings me to where I am now, on the outskirts of new bark town, and regretting everything. Rage had overwhelmed me in the lab, but now that I had cooled down I believed I could get into Sirius trouble for stealing that pokemon. I decided to let it out of its ball though, so I could see what kind it was. After all, what if I was getting all worked up over a hoot-hoot, or something like that?
But in my heart I new that it was bigger than that, to have been on the internal examination screen. I don't actually know what thats meant to do, but I knew that it was expensive. So as the red energy that was a pokemon materialised in front of me, I looked at it intently. The contents of that pokeball pretty much decided my fate.
So you'll understand how extremely nauseous I felt, when it became a baby articuno.
The little thing was undeniably gorgeous. It's beautiful plumage was a shade or two deeper than sky blue, and its eye's were like sapphires, glimmering in the morning light. It took one look at me and hopped lightly into my lap, or rather upper knee, and buried its head in my chest and started sobbing. I held it tight and stroked its magnificent head, deciding that this was my pokemon now.
