Hey guys :p hope you like my story! If you have any tips or suggestions leave me a review!
"Cali! Get in here!" My older brother Kota called from the kitchen.
Uh oh. Not this again.
My mind swiftly skimmed over what I had done that day. I woke up, ate some fried eggs, gave the leftovers to Pepper, my Vulpix, and put my laundry in the washer. Darn it. Must've been something I did the day before. I got up from my bed, ran my fingers through my mousy, tangled hair, and stepped over from my carpeted bedroom to the smooth tile. The kitchen door creaked quietly as I entered. "Yes?"
Kota looked sharp, as always. He was sitting at the table, wearing his suit and tie the company he worked for always required. His pale face was crinkled with stress lines. He gripped the morning paper tightly. It crumbled around his fists, disfiguring the words.
"So…" I said, half to myself. Kota didn't move. "…what's the deal?" I shuffled my feet. It was uncomfortably quiet. Finally, after what seemed like hours, he moved to face me. His gray eyes bore into me.
"A little birdie told me about your little 'adventure' with Pepper." Dang it. "Cal, you know you can't just go wandering around looking for Pokemon like that! Pepper's not trained, she's a house pet!" I averted my eyes.
"But… I was just having some fun, Kota, cut me some slack."
He rose angrily. "Some slack?! You could've been hurt! No one would have known where you were! What makes you think that I could, or even would 'cut you some slack?'"
I looked at the floor. "If you want me to be safe, just let me have my own Pokemon…" I whispered. I heard him sigh. "…No. I'm not going to let you turn this into a little pity party," he mumbled under his breath.
He got up from the table stool, grabbing his briefcase. "Stay inside. Don't go out searching for Pokemon again!" He walked out the door, slamming it loudly.
I didn't understand then why it was such a big deal. Pepper knew Scratch and Roar, so I wasn't afraid of anything hurting us. I grunted. "ARI!" Small pitter-patter of feet echoed through our house. The kitchen door creaked. I turned.
"A certain somebody told Kota about me and Pepper sneaking away, and I'm pretty sure I have a good idea of who that somebody is." Ari, being six, put on an innocent face. "You do?" I crossed my arms.
"Yes, and I think you do too." She smiled sheepishly. "I guess Pepper can talk!" And away she sprinted.
Hmm…Kota's gone, and Ari was nowhere to be seen…against Kota's harsh words, I hurried Pepper out the door, grabbed the Pokeball I hid in the cabinets the day before, and shut the door quietly. Nobody would ever know I left.
