Declaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail and/or the characters.
Snow coated the ground so thickly that it looked as if someone had taken a spoonful of sugar and dumped it onto earth. Even the pond had a light dusting on top of its icy-slick surface. White flakes were still falling, tinkling like soft bells in the blue evening glow.
The sound of boots crunching the snow sounded at the fringes of the pond, hidden by the mellow oak trees. The boots paused,in front of the pond.
His breath clouded the cold air. Snowflakes were tangling in his tousled pink scaled white scarf on his neck was flapping in the wind as he was observing her.
Stumbling every now and then she twirled across the ice,not knowing that he was watching. Like golden threads in knots strands of her hair were tangling in the wind following the rhythm of her woolen purple skirt .The sharp blades grided the ice, once . . . twice . . . thrice -
Crunch.
He gasped involuntarily as his boot bore down noisily onto a frozen twig.
She whipped her head around and a softer gasp escaped from him again.
She saw those stunning onyx eyes of his, turned somehow darker and more alluring by the day's coldness, and caught her looked so enchanting to her.
A blush reddened her white cheeks, making her all the more prettier to those eyes of his, the ones she could hardly bear to look at.
He stepped forward.
Kneeling down for a moment to unlace his boots,he revealed the glistening blades of his own. He rose on wobbly legs, adjusted his balance, and skated slowly out to the center where she stood.
One . . . two . . . one . . . two.
He stood before her in just four long steps.
A soft white cloud blew from her mouth, but then she looked up and met his gaze filled with the mixture of pure bliss and mirth.
He took her mittenless hand into his and smiled at her flushed cheeks. She stared at him quizzically, as his grin only widened. She let him take the other hand with a bit more reluctance.
Slowly, holding her by the hand he skated away. Seeing the panic and uncertainty flare up in her eyes,he finally spoke up:
''Hey,don't be scared,I've got you.''The wind was humming through the trees.
She snorted a little, amused and touched at the same time. "I've never danced on ice before, this is my first time."
"Yeah,I know."
He said no ,they danced on the gracefully followed his movements around and around the felt so flickered in her heart as she saw how easily she could predict his next step, how smoothly they worked together.
As for him,he wasn't surprised. He knew what she could do.
They spun over the slickness, into the darkness, through the curtains of whiteness around them until the sun began to fade into the night. As the last ray sparkled in the ice, she met his eyes once more.
"Natsu, why did you come out here?"
"To dance with you," he replied, smiling gently.
She huffed with impatience. "No, really."
"Really,Luce. That's what I came to do."
