"any more pods?" asked the captain
"no sir" said the scanner officer.
"great just great who survived?" asked the captain
"just one sir the first officer" said the officer {note that i am trying not to copy DS9 or any of the series.}

just then the first officer of the vanguard came on after reporting to the sickbay
note that i am using my STO character so don't say i copied some one also please note that i am trying to be original and this does sound like the tutorial mission but i am trying to come up with my own stuff
"greeting i am vaaanek" said the Vulcan first officer of the late vanguard
"what happened?" asked the captain
"Klingons or romulans" he said "what ever it was it kept cloaking and decloaking so we wont figure who it was. and our scanners went out on the 2nd hit."
"lets head back to earth space dock the admiral would want to hear this" said the captain
"that is the logical course of action" said the vulcan

after reporting to the admiral the newly made captain heads to the docking bay to find the U.S.S Vanguard-A
