"Oh go on James, you love her don't you?"

"Then it will all be okay." James looked at his best friend, Sirius Black then to Lillian Evans, or Lily (A/N: it depends on if she's in trouble or not.) then he looked back at Sirius.
"You're right Si." He replied as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a small object.
"What's that?" Sirius asked.
"Muggle candy."
"You're gonna..."
"Yeah"
"...With that?"
"Yeah." All of the marauders gave James a look as if he were stark raving mad.
"Oh come on.... I have the real one in my other pocket."
"Oh. Nice."
"Good."
"God be with you...you're gonna need him."
"Mixers." James said back to them playfully as he got up. He started to cross the common room to were Lily was sitting with her best friend, Laria Black (A/N: Si's twin sister). He stopped halfway there and turned back toward the marauders. They all signed good luck to him and James winked back at them, then finished walking to his sweetheart.
"Hey Jamesie babe." Lily immediately said when she saw him.
"Hey Lily-flower my love...Happy Birthday!" he answered (A/N: it was Lily's birthday for those of you that didn't figure it out when James said Happy Birthday.)
"Thanks!" she said as she planted a kiss on his lips. He returned the kiss and then inquired,
"So, what are your plans for today, love?"
"Not much, Laria and I were just about to play a game of Wizard's Chess.'
"Oh."
"What's in your hand, there Jamesie?"
"Oh, That." He said as he fumbled with the wrappings. When he finally got them all off, he held the ring pop so that she could see it. (Cookies and cream flavour)
"WillyoumarrymeLily?"
"What did you say Jamesie?" James took a deep breath and asked her again, this time more slowly,
"Will you, er, will you marry me Lily?" By this time all of the common room was listening, watching and waiting in anticipation. Her mouth was dry, and she was speechless, yet Lily nodded and felt a warm tear race down her pale face. James slipped the candy ring around her finger and wrapped his arms around her, kissing her like they did when they first realised that they were truly in love. Everyone cheered and James whispered into Lily's ear,
"That's not the real ring you know..." She raised her eyebrows as he pulled out the real ring, which was in a little brass box, encrusted with her name and the finest jewels that you could imagine. She gasped as she opened the parcel to reveal a 24k gold ring with a sparkling diamond and two emeralds on either side of it.
"I thought that the emeralds matched your dazzling eyes perfectly." James whispered sweetly. They kissed again and James heard Sirius say,
"Now Jamesie-boy, that wasn't all that bad, was it?"
