His feathery hands held her shoulders. His kisses were demanding and needy.
"We need to talk." She said, watching his feathers growback into his body. Funny. They used to simply shed.
He looked at her for a split second and then went back to what he was doing.
"Howl, I'm serious." She firmly put her hands against his chest and pushed him away.
"What is it?" he finally said.
"You've been really distant lately." She began.
"Usually, you come home happy and actually spend time with the family. But now, all you do is do..things…with me."
Again, he sighed. He rubbed the back of his neck.
"I guess so." He shrugged. This wasn't exactly what she expected.
"Then what do you have to say?" she inquired. His blue eyes bore into her brown ones.
"What do you want me to say?" he asked.
"Howl." She grabbed his hand
"You need to tell me what's going on." She said softly.
He put his hand on her cheek with a dark look in his eyes. Raven-black hair covered part of his eyes.
"But I'm scared, Sophie." He said. Of what?
"Would you really stay with me no matter what? In any situation? Even if I was the one in the wrong?" he smiled. But it was a small one. Like he expected her to say no.
She didn't hesitate for even a moment.
"Yes." She breathed. He looked up at her for a moment, obviously surprised. Then, something strange happened.
Howl looked down and sniffled. Again. And again.
"Are you alright?" Sophie put her hand on his shoulder. Crying, he put his arms around her in a tender embrace.
"Thank you." he sobbed. Sophie hugged him back.
"I'll always stay with you, Howl." She smiled as she saw the light return to his eyes.
