"Sir! The halfling is here upon your request!"

A little boy, wearing a black cloak with a hood that hides his face. No more than thirteen walks into the captain's office.

"Come closer" the captain said.

The captain gave the boy a letter and said, "Leave now Kodi"

The boy left without saying a word.

"Somehow, the Flood survived. We've had reports of people going missing, and green slime, just like the flood's blood, was the only thing left behind. Intelligence tells, that every month, every single Flood gathers up in the desert pyramids. They worship this magical book. We need that book. It is a suicide mission, but that's the point.

As Kodi walked out of the captain's office, Private Smith told him, "Go to the equipment room and choose your weapons. Then go to the conference room. Tell the person there when you are ready."

And once again, Kodi did as he was told. He got an assault rifle, two pistols, two special Plasma Swords he made himself, and a couple grenades. Eh, he got some extra strong armor and a few health packs...

"You're ready to go? Okay, follow me. By the way, my name is Jon"

The two came up to a...helicopter.

"I know it's ancient, but the captain wants us both to die." Jon said

"And your okay with that?!" Kodi's eyes lit up red.

"Put your weapons on the seat" Jon climbed into the helicopter without saying another word.

Kodi put his equipment on the seat as he was told. He put his cloak off, and revealed his red eyes, and black hair.

As they came up to the pyramid, they noticed the top was blasted off.

"Perfect, I can shoot them from the sky"

By the time Jon finished his sentence, Kodi was already to the pyramid.

He started to climb the pyramid to get it from the top. Problem was the Flood knew he was there and they started throwing grenades at him. He quickly jumped up and shot them with his assault rifle. He reloaded while he was falling down the hole they made. Man that was a long drop. Halfway down, the flood tried jumping down from the hole. Somehow, they managed to catch up with Kodi, and started shooting at him. Kodi put a plasma mine on one of the flood, and dropped another grenade. Where ever it landed it would kill some flood. Kodi jumped off the flood with the grenade on it, and barely escaped the explosion. He picked another assault rifle off a flood, and as the flood came to view, he started shooting while the flood shot back. Having no way to reload both his guns, he put a plasma grenade on both of his rifles, and threw it down. The flood without guns tried to catch it to start shooting at Kodi. Many of them fought over it, only to explode. Kodi saw the magic book propped on an alter, and used the explosion to propel himself towards it. Two flood tackled him and took his rifle, So Kodi shot them with his pistols. When he got up, he jumped toward the book, shooting flood trying to attack him with his pistols. Next thing you know Kodi's gone.

"I have to book" Kodi said into his shirt while rising up, "Don't shoot down the hole"

"Roger!"

When Kodi got out, there were flood waiting for him. He tried shooting them, but was out of ammo. Using his swords, Kodi cut the flood down. Jon and his helicopter came towards Kodi with a ladder hanging down. He grabbed hold of the ladder, only to know someone cut the rope. Jon, thinking Kodi was climbing up the ladder, flew off.

"JON! COME BACK!" Kodi yelled into his shirt again. Thing is, there was too much blood on the little walkie talkie wire thing...

Short chapter, no?
