This is my first fanfic. Hope you enjoy! It's a scene from Twilight, in between the hospital scene and the prom.

"So, Bella, you want to go to the prom with me?"
Edward was out hunting with Rosalie, so I was sitting with Mike, Lauren, Tyler, Angela, and Jessica. It was a week after my encounter with James. I was back at school. But I guess Mike kept trying, even though I obviously couldn't dance with a leg cast on. Now that Edward was "hiking", Mike was trying his luck yet again.
"I don't know, Mike." I said. "Maybe." Mike seemed to take that as a yes, though. He chatted all the way through lunch. I felt bad because I knew I had to tell him I wasn't going. How was I going to let him know without making him feel horrible?
I looked over at the Cullens' table beseechingly, but they didn't notice me. Then Alice said something, and Emmett got up and walked over to our table. I could see everyone was nervous. Why wouldn't they be? "Hey, Bella," he said, grinning. I managed to say "Hi," even though everyone was staring. They knew Edward and I were together, but I guess they didn't realize I was friends with his adoptive siblings, too.
Emmett sat down next to Mike and said, "I think Bella wanted to let you down easy, but I don't care. You're making her uncomfortable. Just get this in your head. She's not going to the prom with you." With every word he spoke, he seemed to get bigger and scarier. Mike seemed to get smaller. He shrank down in his seat and squeaked out an "Okay."
Emmett grinned. "But don't worry," he said. "There's plenty of other fish in the sea." He winked at Jessica, who swooned, and then started back toward Alice and Jasper. "Oh, Bella? Baseball's on for tonight, if you want to come. You didn't really get to experience it last time." I smiled slightly. The last time I had gone to watch the Cullens play baseball (which was also the 1st time), James and his coven had shown up. I looked over at Alice, who smiled and gave me a thumbs-up.
When I looked back at our table, Jessica and Lauren were staring after Emmett, with dreamy looks on their faces. I didn't need to be able to read minds to know what they were thinking. Angela asked, "You play baseball? I thought you said you were clumsy." I blushed beet red. "No, actually I just watch. It's pretty amazing." Mike was sullen the rest of lunch. "So who are you going with, then?" he asked. "Cullen? Tyler?" I felt bad for him. "No, Mike, I don't dance." I didn't mention my broken leg because I thought it seemed pretty obvious.
During the afternoon, I got asked so many times to go to the prom, I lost count. Alice picked me up and we went to the baseball meadow. I walked over to Emmett, who was warming up. "Thanks a lot," I said. "Because Edward's not here, you just made me the most available girl in school." He just laughed.
I guess that's the price you pay for dating a vampire.
