Just a little fic. Not really my usual thing so please be kind. Slightly inspired by torchwood…and in Ruby's point of view.

She was never going to live this down. Not only was she covered in green slime but Luke was also dancing round her chanting "you kissed Mina" at the top of his lungs. It was times like this she wished she was a chain smoker. Or an alcoholic. A little light relief in the form of nicotine and whisky.
They'd been doing their usual thing, tracking down half-lives, waving guns around and ignoring Galvin when he overused the word 'smiting'. The hunt had all started when two bodies were reported, found dead still…well "inside each other" as Mina had so delicately put it, (only to be followed by Galvin snorting and declaring they'd been killed fucking each other senseless).
The half-life was a May-Traverse Demon, which emitted pheromones and then fed off the lust fuelled havoc by consuming its victim's souls. Hence in the dank and stale silence of its lair she had ended up pressed against a wall with Mina nibbling deliciously at her bottom lip.
"I can't believe you kissed Mina." Luke shook his head, a grin stretching from ear to ear that Ruby longed to wipe off with the stinging palm of her hands. As soon as Luke shot the freak and its insides had exploded over them all, the spell broke. Mina had pulled away gasping for breath, all flushed cheeks, bruised lips and smudged lipstick. The sight was almost enough to pull her back.
Both Galvin and Luke had stared in disbelief and arousal. Needless to say the car journey back to the stacks had been…tense.
Now Luke sat in front of her, still grinned over the table, mug of tea cupped between his palms. Galvin had disappeared into the stacks, hunting down the whiskey and Mina had gone home – something about early morning piano recital.
"It could have happened to anyone."
"But it didn't it happened to you and Mina." Luke laughed. "You suppose to hate each other."
Ruby frowned. Hate was a bit strong but, "I do."
"Not according to this." He pushed a thick bound book towards her, sent her another Cheshire grin and disappeared out the door of the stacks and into the night. Ruby sighed and glanced down at the book, a particular line catching her eye,
"May-Traverse wields power over the idlest of couples yet in all that of physical arousal and attraction must be present…"
Ah.
