I slowly started chipping away at this block of stone
In an attempt to fashion a way to regain your attention.

Alone in the forest, Sasuke sat on the ground with his head in his hands. Sakura, his Sakura... she wouldn't speak to him, or even look his way anymore and she definitely wouldn't hear him out.
I started out with some paper and pen and my apologies.
But every time I try to write to you
I just can never find the words to explain.
He had tried writing. A letter sounded like a good idea until he realized he couldn't explain any of his actions on paper. He couldn't describe the pain, put into words his reasons for leaving, his reasons for betraying everyone... especially Sakura.
So I'll build a monument to honor you,

Picked up the phone and I started to dial your line from memory.
Too proud to ever let you pick up.
Close to the point where I should give up.

He had tried calling her too. He'd hold the phone to his ear, letting it ring and ring before swiftly hanging up.
It didn't do him any good. He knew she wouldn't pick up and she'd never call him back.
So now I'm doing something tangible - I'm working with my hands.
Because I can never seem to manage to say I'm sorry in a language you can comprehend.
Sasuke tried everything he could think of. Every possible way to get Sakura back, to make her listen to him.
He had only one option left to try.

He rose from the ground and ran to Sakura's house, dodging civilians on the way. At her house, he stood in the yard, waiting for her to come outside.
And even if you pulled your shades down,
And burn the statue to the ground,
It'll be enough to bring your warmth back to me.
He didn't care what she'd do, he only hoped that she would do something. He wanted her to yell, scream, try to fight him, he wanted her to show a response.

Finally, Sakura came outside. She stared at Sasuke for a long moment before softly muttering his name. The sound of her voice was all Sasuke needed to continue.

"Sakura," he said. "I love you." He placed his foot on a patch of grass, immediately releasing a flaming kunai. He made no move to dodge the kunai, kept his eyes on Sakura as the kunai lodged itself deep into his chest while engulfing his body in flames.

Sakura screamed and dropped to her knees.
