Return to the Center of the Labyrinth

"You have no power over me." Sarah's mind was astonished that she could forget such a simple line at such a desperate time. She watched the goblin king's face fall as she repeated herself.
"You have no power over me!" Jereth's heart screamed as it was torn apart. The spell he held over the only person he had ever loved was broken, his will to live disappeared as she faded from site.
The king crumpled to the ground, his breath coming in short, ragged gasps. A woman, much younger then he, emerged from the ivory mists surrounding him and stared disapprovingly at the empty space where Sarah had stood moments before. She clucked her tongue and bent down to address Jereth.
"Silly man," she scolded. "Didn't I tell you not to lose your heart to mortals? Didn't I, Father? Didn't I tell you they only kill you in the end? Silly, foolish man. How did a fool such as yourself get to be King of the Goblins?" Jereth strained to look at his verbal attacker. Her blonde hair was short and neat in her human form. Her slightly pointed nose and long limbs gave her the appearance of a Nive.
Her face was her finest feature; she would be considered beautiful in the mortal world. She looked like the average human, but her eyes, her eyes gave way to her animal spirit. Unlike her father, who had chosen the silent but flashy owl, her spirit settled on the fox, swift and cunning.
She again sneered at the cowering figure.
"I shouldn't help you. With you out of the way the Labyrinth would finally have a proper leader. Still, even though I'm a sadistic mortal hater, no one takes advantage of Goblin Royalty. Therefor, that being shall forever dance with you in the after-life, you have my word.
I suck at beginnings, couldn't you tell? Well, even if it's not the bast thing in the world right now, it will get better…maybe…hopefully…::begs to muse::… please?
The disclaimer: No, I do not own Labyrinth. Labyrinth belongs to whoever Labyrinth belongs to; I've never really bothered to look. In fact, the only character that does belong to me is the new goblin leader (I haven't decided on a name yet. Help me!). yeah, the goblin names I got out of "The Goblin Companion: A field Guide to Goblins" by Brian Froud and Terry Jones. I'm too lazy to create some original characters. So sue me. Wait. Don't sue, I'm poor.
R & R please!
