I mentioned in "Damaged Feelings" that Sam had had nightmares about his abuse, so I decided to do a one-shot of that affect. Characters belong to Eric Kripke and the CW.
It was three weeks after the trial when Sam had his first nightmare. He had been sleeping peacefully until the middle of the night. Dean bolted straight up in bed at the scream.
"What the?" he muttered. John silently got out the bed and headed for the other room.
"No! No!" he heard Sam called out.
"Sam?" John queried, opening the door. His youngest tossed and turned in his bed.
"No. No! I don't want to!" Sam exclaimed.
"Hey, hey, hey. Take it easy, Kiddo," John soothed, sitting in front of his son and trying to steady him.
"No. No. Get off," Sam said, increasing his struggle.
"Sam, it's me, Kiddo," John soothed.
"Sammy?" Dean questioned, coming into the room.
"No. No. I don't want to," Sam insisted.
"Sam!" John and Dean exclaimed. The youngest Winchester jerked awake with a gasp.
"Hey. It's okay, Kiddo. You're safe with us," John assured him.
"I---I can't---she's in my head. I can't get her out," Sam said tearfully.
"Hey, we got you Kiddo," Dean assured.
"No one's expecting you to get over it just like that," John added with a snap of his fingers.
"I hate this. I hate this," Sam said, launching himself towards his father. John made little shushing noises as he rubbed his hand in circle on Sam's back.
