I do not own these people. Do not sue me please. You would not get much. ^_^
A shadow slowly moved from headstone to headstone, finally stopping at the one with an angel carved on top and two names and dates carved on the bottom. The wet grass was tall around to headstone. The man knelt down beside it, and laid a white rose in the middle of the two names.
"Sorry I have not come out to see you for a while. It has been a crazy past few months." the man paused and glanced and one side of the headstone. "Yeah, I know, mom, not a good excuse. I retired last Month. The precinct held a huge bash. Amanda, Jesse, Cheryl, even Jack was there. It was nice. Of course I get bored easily now though. I go on a lot of afternoon walks on the beach." The man chuckled softly to himself, then looked toward the other side of the headstone.
"Dion is going to graduate from Yale at the end of this year. He'll be a lawyer, and a very good one. Amanda is bursting with pride and telling everyone she knows. CJ got married two days ago to a beautiful young lady named Michelle. He was going to get married two weeks ago, but…" He glanced away for a moment.
"He cancelled it for Jesse's funeral. Jesse got hit by a drunk driver on his way to his daughter's Easter play. I guess you know that. He's probably up there with you now. They dedicated a little plaque to him at community General. Probably because he was chief of surgery. " The man stood and stared at the headstone for a while.
"I miss you both." he whispered softly as he turned and walked toward another grave. This one was mounded with fresh dirt and wilted flower arrangements still sat atop the mound. He stopped and looked silently at it letting a tear slip down his face.
"I miss you, too." He stood there for a few more minutes then turned and walked toward his car.
I just thought of this while washing dishes. Please Review!!!
