"Miles, I need to go out this evening. Keep an eye on your sister," Von Karma said.
Miles Edgeworth stifled a protest. Really, even if some intruder managed to breach the impressive security of the Von Karma mansion, Franziska was quite capable of taking care of herself. But one did not say 'no' to Manfred Von Karma.
"Yes, sir," Miles said.
After Von Karma left, Miles and Franziska ate their dinner. It was getting close to seven o'clock, and Miles wanted to see that new movie on television, but Von Karma would have his head if he left Franziska alone. "Say, Fran?" he asked.
"What?" she asked.
"Do you want to see a movie? There's a really exciting one coming on in a minute," he said casually. Please say yes, he thought.
She shrugged. "I suppose I don't have anything better to do."
They went into the living room and sat down in front of the television. The opening music played, and an exciting introductory scene followed.
Miles was just getting immersed in the film when Franziska jumped up and yelled "What are you doing, you foolish fool? You can't use your whip like that?"
"Franziska, it's a movie," Miles said.
"I don't care," she snapped. "If you really tried to swing around on your whip like that, you'd fall and kill yourself. The foolish fool who made that movie obviously had no practical experience at all. I'd like to teach him a few things," she said, cracking her whip ominously.
Miles didn't answer. He was trying to hear what was going on. Eventually, his step-sister settled down to watch the movieā¦at least for a little while.
"Oh, come on!" she shouted. "It's a whip! Not an extendable hand! You can't just grab things like that!"
Miles was starting to get a massive headache. As the movie dragged on, punctuated by Franziska's commentary, Miles wanted to simply give up and turn it off, but his sister would have none of it. "I want to see this foolish movie to its undoubted foolish ending," she insisted.
As the film finally reached its halfway point, Miles made a decision. Never, he swore to himself, neveragain would he try to watch "Indiana Jones" with his sister.
