I just can't let go of the Lady Midnight cliff hanger - sorry if this is bad...
Her fingers locked around the curls of his hair. They were intwined in each other's arms. Sand ruffling up on each other but they didn't notice. They didn't notice anything just each other. Then she was being lifted away by an invisible force. Titanium hair blowing in the wind as someone approached her, cradling her in his arms. The both of them soon flying off on a horse all the way to the stars, further and further away from him-
Startled, he jumped up, his head cold but sweating. His face wet, full of tears. He wanted to go to Emma's room so badly but he couldn't see her right now.
She's been with Mark for a week and already he can't sleep at night, can't look after the kids, can't do anything. Emma was the only thing that ran through his mind but the only thing he couldn't have. He knew she was lying to herself, to us.
He needed to get away from the institute. Some air should help. Whipping on a t-shirt and some trousers, he went to his window which was normally sealed but now was his only way out of the horror.
Racing and racing, he got to the dark beach. He flopped down to the coarse sand. It didn't feel nice anymore, not if he can't have Emma. He just didn't want to live without her as more than parabatai even if it is a law. Lex malla, lex nulla: A bad law is no law. That is all he could believe right now.
Lying in bed, staring at the ceiling was the only thing she had been doing the past few nights. Emma didn't know what else to do other than make Julian not love her; she couldn't stop loving him no matter how long she kissed Mark. If only she could stop being parabatai with him. She needed to find away. Like how Jem stopped being a Silent Brother and he was back with Tessa.
She needed to talk to someone, someone who didn't know anything. She couldn't talk to anyone who looked like Julian, who reminded her of Julian. That she only did when she needed to.
That's it. I'll go talk to him tomorrow. Maybe talking will make her feel better.
