A/N: Happy New Year to all of you guys, this is my first time writing Fosterson fan fiction so bear with me. Enjoy!
29th December. Jane was in the kitchen. It was her turn to do the dishes, leaving Thor and Darcy alone in the living room. That was a great opportunity for Thor to ask her something.
"Lady Darcy, I have heard that it is a Midgardian custom to kiss a loved one on the New Year. Is this true?" He asked.
"Yeah, it's true. Wow, learning the trends already, big guy?" She replied.
"Indeed. Thank you, Lady Darcy."
"You're welcome. I'm guessing that it'll be Jane that will be kissed?"
"Yes, is it that easy to guess?" Thor asked.
"Not if Jane doesn't know what you're planning. No worries, I can keep a secret." She said. Suddenly, they heard the tap turn off. Jane would be coming out soon.
"Oh, and remember," Darcy said. "Only when they count to 1."
31st December. Jane, Thor and Darcy were in front of the TV, watching the New Year specials. It was 11.57p.m., and Thor was getting happier and happier. How happy would Jane be? Darcy was looking excited too, but thankfully so was just about everyone else celebrating New Year, so Jane never suspected anything. The clock on the wall read 11.59 now, and Darcy gave Thor an encouraging smile.
"Dammit, I need to go to the bathroom," She suddenly said.
"But you'll miss the countdown." Jane said.
"Meh, I'm going anyway," she replied. Thor knew that she wanted to leave them alone when the kiss happened.
"10… 9… 8…" The people on the television and around the neighbourhood counted. Jane and Thor turned their attention back to the TV as Darcy closed the door behind her.
"7… 6… 5…" A wide grin spread across Thor's face.
"4… 3…" Jane sat up excitedly, waiting for the fireworks.
"2…" Thor looked at Jane. Should he catch her attention? Perhaps not now.
"1!" Jane only saw a small bit of the fireworks on the TV before Thor grabbed her by surprise. He pressed his lips against hers, eyes closed. Jane calmed down a bit and kissed back, closing her eyes as well. How did Thor know? But that didn't matter now, this moment felt fantastic, much better than any other New Year she's had.
