Harry slowly read the diary. Inside there was an indeterminate amount of entries, pertaining to himself As he read on, he felt Draco mature and go into the field of medical research, along with Hermione. Unfortunately for Draco, it had been several weeks before Hermione had been captured. Several weeks before...

They had received permission from the ministry of magic to perform Avada Kedavra as many times as they wanted under very specific circumstances and only to animals such as cockroaches and rodents. Draco finished the project early 2005 and sought after to locate Harry and tell him about it. Every day, his doubt would grow until one November morning, he had given up.

Harry stepped outside his flat to calm his emotions. The fresh air did little to inhibit his raging nerves. The cool autumn breeze had been replaced by the chilly winter blow. He wrapped his cloak tighter around his body and hurriedly stepped into a secluded alleyway where he apparated to Diagon Alley. Without regards to any of the stares that accompanied his appearance, he paid for his coffee and left for the most suitable transport though the magical world, apparation. Quietly he stepped out and apparated to a small hill in the fields of Britain. Crispy leaves decorated the dusty floor of the small clearing that existed. A curtain of branches followed his footsteps and he ducked beneath some of them, others getting caught in his black hair, as unruly as ever. Still the same, he thought. Always was, always will. Now partially dusted with bits of "tree" Harry cautiously walked dangerously close to the pond, although seemingly shallow, was in fact, quite deceiving in depth. As he approached the rickety bridge between one side and the other. He felt a hitch in his heart as he got ever closer to his destination. Continuing the cross through the threshold, he held his head high, knowing what awaited him would not want to see him in this state.

"Silly of me, anyway. It doesn't truly matter, does it?" he asked aloud, expecting really no answer, just a gust of wind telling him that he was getting closer. Suddenly with a tiny tone of finality, whispered, "You can't say I haven't been here often enough, at least I'm here now..." he broke off.

"I..." he began, but stopped as he realized he was there. Lying in the center of the secluded woods in country Scotland was a tall, smooth piece of marble. On it was an elaborate carving of a dragon. Chipped neatly in the center were the words:

Draco Malfoy
"A dragon to keep me warm,
a dragon to hold tight,
a dragon in heaven,
a dragon for life."

March 25th 1980 - December 2nd 2005

Harry glanced at the familiar design and slowly announced, "The 'Harry Potter' counter-curse for Avada Kedavra has been found. Today is the 2nd of December. Remember that day, Draco. And I thank thee. For everything."
