They lied to me..

It was a peaceful and snowy evening in New York city. The clouds started to darken with the sky and the wind started to blow. Overwhelmed Kids were building snowmen, having snowball fights, and making snow angels. Riley Matthews sat in her bay window, drinking Hot chocolate, and waiting for her best friend to make her appearance. She watched the snow drift down from the sky, touching the grass, and leaving a mark. Nothing was new. New York winters are always filled with endless days of snow. Everyday is filled with movies and forts and drinking hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. To her it started to get boring, more boring then school. Riley let out a sigh into the cold, brisk air and closed her window knowing Maya was never going to show up. Maya moved to California to pursue her singing dream. Riley knew she wasn't going to come back, but she still kept the window open. Riley turned out her lights and got under her warm, but slightly cold, blankets. She drifted off into a light sleep.

A loud crash came from Riley's room, waking her up. Riley sat up quickly and looked around. She saw a black figure and let out a small scream.

"Who are you!" Riley yelled holding a flashlight up to the figure.

"Elliot. My name is Elliot, now will you please be quiet." The figure said quickly.

"Why should I?"

"Because I don't want to wake the rest of your family."

"Whatever. What are you doing here?"

"I need a place to stay so that window was open,"-Elliot pointed to the window-"so I climbed through and here I am." Riley looked at the window. She suddenly looked down remembering How her and Maya met. Maya ran away from home after her parents got into a huge fight. It was getting to cold for the little girl so she climbed through Riley's window and they talked for hours.

"Oh. Did you run away?" Elliot nodded.

"Why?" Riley asked hoping to get an answer.

"Because, I know their not my real parents, even though they say the are. I have proof their not." -he held up a certificate- "this here is my real birth certificate." Riley snatched it out of his hands and looked at it.

"Wait a minute. No this can be real. These are my parents and I know they would have told me I have an older brother."

"Well, I guess-"

"I guess they lied to me."
