Part One: Arré's Sixth Battle
The Creature cannot be destroyed. It has terrorized this world for three centuries. I and my order are mankind's only defense. We alone take up the duty of holding the Nightmare Beast at bay. The Creature's power will never end, but neither will my order's determination to fight him. I am known as Arré.
In life, the Creature was a monster. He preyed upon the helpless for his own enjoyment. When vengeance was done upon him, he found a way to avoid whatever afterlife most men cross into in death. Instead, the Creature embedded himself in the realm of dreams. Those who know his name are marked for life. Once he enters your mind, you will never be free of him. This is why we of the order never speak the Creature's name except to new Guardians who have completed their training.
The thing one must keep always in mind when fighting the Creature is never to tell yourself that the dream is not real. It is real. If you try to convince yourself otherwise, the Creature will toy with you and finally kill you, adding your soul to his collection of victims and to his power.

The Creature attacked me. I caught his clawed hand and threw him into the pipes behind me. He cried out in fury as he dove into the floor and erupted from the wall to my right. I threw a punch that toppled him back into the wall. When a massive clawed arm shot up under me from the floor, I flipped up and over, landing softly on my feet. A six-inch black cylinder appeared in my right hand that produced a bright blue blade of energy. I whirled the lightsaber in front of me, severing the Creature's arm.
"I hate you!!!" the Creature roared. His severed limb sprang from the floor back into place on his body. "I'll tear you apart piece by piece."
"Not bloody likely," I replied.
The Creature slashed at me, but I dodged the blades easily. I threw my weapon in a spinning arc at him. With an almost gratuitous amount of spurting blood, the Creature's body fell in about twelve pieces. I seized the opportunity to put some distance between me and the monster. With a slight effort, I produced a cloud of golden energy around myself. My brown hair turned bright blond, and my eyes glowed a fierce green.
"One, two, Freddy's coming for you," said the Creature's head as he slowly began to put himself back together. I put my palms together and held them away from him, behind my turned shoulder.
"Ka."
"Three, four, better lock your door."
".Me."
"Five, six, grab your crucifix."
".Ha."
"Seven, eight, learn to stay up late." the Creature had fully regenerated.
".Me."
"Nine, ten." he sneered, "Never sleep again!!!"
The creature leapt toward me, his claws contorting and growing, intent on impaling me.
".HA!!!!"
I threw my hands forward, and a huge beam of blue-white energy fired and engulfed the Creature. I could hear him screaming in rage at the defeat. As his screams faded, so did the dream. I soon found myself awake in my bed, covered in sweat and very exhausted. I'd won yet again.
"Only one battle left," I said to myself. I closed my eyes and went back into a peaceful, dreamless sleep.
