A/N: This is very AU. I just thought that the whole baby arc could have gone differently if Friends were a drama instead of a comedy.

Disclaimer: I don't own Friends or the characters. This is purely for enjoyment.

-Knock Knock-

Rachel got up from the couch and walked towards the door. She looked through the peep hole and rolled her eyes.

"What do you want?" She asked as soon as she opened the door.

He looked at her with a confused look on his face. "Can I come in?" He asked with a slight smile.

She glared at him. "What is it?" She said, still not letting him in.

He looked down at his shoes, "I just wanted to say sorry." He looked up and saw that she was still glaring at him.

He took a deep breath and continued, "I had no right to question if I was Emma's father. I know that you wouldn't lie about something as big as this…" He trailed off, not knowing what else to say.

"I don't want to disturb the neighbors, so come in," she said, stepping back to make room for him.

He walked in and sat down on the couch. She grabbed the baby monitor off the counter and sat across from him.

"I'm not going to say I was hurt by what you said," Rachel said. "The fact that you would even question if you were Emma's father means that you weren't ready for another child. And I'm not saying I was but at the beginning I told you that I would be okay doing this by myself." She paused and looked around the room. "If you don't want to be part of her life," She shrugged her shoulders. "The offer still stands. I don't need you and Emma definitely doesn't need you. Just make up your mind."

"I never said I-"

Rachel cut him off, "you didn't have to actually say the words, the fact that you even considered her not being yours means that you would risk your friendship with me just so you wouldn't be a parent again!" She yelled, for the first time that night.

"My God Rachel," he stood up, yelling at her. "I want this to work, I do. But I don't want to hurt you. I don't want to hurt Emma." He stopped talking and looked at her, desperate to get her to understand.

"I can't," She shook her head. "I can't sit here while you flip flop back and forth between what looks good and what doesn't." She laughed bitterly. "This," she motioned between the two of them, "will never work out."

"I get it, I was being idiotic. But you have no idea how it felt when you said you were marrying Joey." He ran his fingers through his hair. "I was so confused. I was so hurt

She rolled her eyes. "I get it, you were hurt. Big deal, build a bride and get over it. Don't go and get a court ordered paternity test!"

"Rachel I…" He tried interrupting but nothing came else came out.

"Do you know what this did to me!? People think I'm a whore. My best friend thinks I'm a pathetic loser who tried to get money off of you!" She was screaming now, her whole body shaking with anger. "Ross, you are a coward. I want nothing to do with you."

Ross nodded his head and stood up slowly. He walked to the door and bowed his head. "I'm sorry." He whispered before walking out and shutting the door behind him.
