["Do you really love me?"
Renaldo turned around to see the object of his affection staring at him, her fiery red-orange eyes round with an undiscernable emotion. "Of course, my princess," he whispered, hooking an arm around her waist and grabbing her hand with the other. Her eyes glowed like embers in a fire, a smile on her lips. He leaned toward her, ready to bestow upon her a kiss–]
BEEP BEEP BEEP!
The young man's eyes opened at the sound. He let out a groan. It never failed. Every time, right before he became the happiest man in existence, his stupid alarm went off. It was no use. He had to get to work.
"Hey, Renaldo," his father said towards the end of the day. "You know Steven'll be coming by for his fry bits soon. Peedee and I have to go pick up an order. Close up for us, okay?"
"Sure, Dad."
Of course, as soon as the rest of his family was gone, Renaldo's mind drifted off…
["Sire! Sire!"
King Dewey looked up to see Connie Mahaeswaran and Steven Universe running toward him.
"What is it, children?" the king asked.
"It's the Lady of the Deep!" Connie began.
"She was kidnapped by the dragon, Malachite!" Steven added.
"The Lady of the Deep!? I will send knights at once to rescue her! JAMIE!"
"Yes, your Majesty?"
"Send for the knights! There is a dragon to be slain and the lady to rescue!"
"Yes, your Majesty!"
The young Renaldo Fryman stood before his father's inn, sweeping away excess dirt and dust. He gazed at the manor on the hill, where the Ladies of Crystal took residence. All of the Ladies were beautiful creatures, some younger, some older, but one in particular had caught his eye: the Lady of the Deep. He swore she was an enchantress; she seemed to have bewitched him.
The Lady was not as expected; she was young, somewhat hot-tempered, and fiery. Her hair was long and reddish orange, with eyes like embers in a dying flame.
Her mother was the Lady of Wisdom, who was sought after by the king for marriage, however she refused him.
He wondered if he'd ever meet her.
Hoofbeats filled the air. Down the street came the knights, heading for the palace. Something was wrong. The last time the knights had been called to action was to save the Lady of Waves from the witch, Jasper. Renaldo ran for the palace, too. He would do anything to help.
He was caught and thrown in the dungeon, where he remained for a few weeks. In that time, he discovered the Lady's kidnapping. After a while, he revealed his willingness to help.
"You're willing to rescue the Lady?" King Dewey asked. "It's something my own son and the other knights were unable to accomplish!"
"I'm willing, your Majesty."
"You have one chance."
Malachite sent a stream of fire at him. Renaldo raised the shield given to him by the Lady of Flowers and charged with the Lady of Wisdom's sword. It pierced the belly of the beast. The creature let out a terrifying shriek of pain. Blood stained the ground as it writhed. Then, it stopped.
He ran into the cave and found the Lady on top of a stone.
"My Lady!". He bowed. "I have come to return you home.". She took his hand and went with him.
"I must thank you. I was beginning to think nobody would come."
"A true man fights for the woman he loves," he said as he let her off the horse and began to ride away.
"Do you really love me?"
"Yes.". He turned and faced her. They leaned closer and closer—]
"Hello?"
He had been wakened from his dreamworld. Angry, he looked up– and saw her.
The Lady of the Deep.
Coral.
"C-Coral!" he stammered. "What brings you by?"
"Picking up Steven's fry bits. He's pretty busy, so I offered to go."
"Here!". Renaldo dumped the bits into a bag. "Come again!"
"See ya!". She gave him a warm smile.
"Goodbye, milady," he whispered, with stars in his eyes.
THE END!
{Good? Bad? Let me know!}
