Doctor Who...even the movie...does not belong to me :(

This was written for another friend of mine on lj. She wanted an Eight fic...and the shoes. lol.

It Sounded like Happiness

"There are more important things to think about!" shouted Grace over the sound of cars whizzing near by. She couldn't believe she had just met this man and had to already beg for his attention.

Well, metsounded much too normal for the situation…and he, whoever he really was, was far from anything that could possibly be considered normal.

He ran from tree to tree, practically caressing each one's bark. Grace was somewhat glad to see that the park was nearly deserted at that time of night – they probably would have called the cops. She walked quickly to keep up with him.

Very hyperactive, she thought as she watched him run and stop, run and stop.

Too hyperactive, she concluded.

She tried yelling at him once more using a stern voice to get his attention, "I said that there are more important things to think about!" You strange, strange man, she added silently.

His laughter was loud, the cars and city noise no longer overpowering their conversation…if you could call it that.

Grace couldn't help but smile as he turned towards her, almost spinning like a top. His laughter, much like a gleeful child's, rang through the leaves of the trees. It had a nice sound – she couldn't quite understand what made it so different, but it was.

It sounded like happiness.

"Oh, but Grace…dear, dear Grace! Nothing's more important right this second!" his smile was wide and bright, and his hair slightly disheveled from the twirling and wind. She stepped closer to him and said, with a smirk, "I really do think that there is something more important right now…than your shoes, obviously!"

He gasped comically and then the brilliant smile was back.

"But they fit!" And off he went, running and stopping. Running and stopping.

He is so strange, thought Grace, as she trailed after him.
