There was no where he could go now. Elena and his brother thought he was leaving - and he wanted to, but first he needed to do something.
While he was sat on a dark sheet, surrounded by pictures of her friends and family, Callie was having dinner with her parents and her older brother in one of the enormous rooms her house had. He wanted to go there and rescue her. Damon knew how much the blonde hated being there – being compared to her successful brother – but he also knew she would have problems if anyone saw her with some mysterious man.
After fifteen minutes, she excused herself from the table, while murmuring something about a history work she needed to finish. Her parents didn't commented – Damon knew that most of the times, they acted as the only child they had was Dylan, the doctor.
He stayed quiet while listening to the steps she gave while walking towards the room, not daring to move. Even if he wanted to move, the quantity of alcohol in his blood made it practically impossible.
The girl opened the door and close it quickly, without caring about clicking the button that would illuminate the little room. Her breathing was steady, but her heartbeat was wild.
The moment she saw Damon sat there, a scream almost broke through her mouth, but knowing it would only startle her parents she was able to hold it.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Callie asked, moving closer to the vampire.
When he didn't answer, Callie knew that something wasn't right – the man in front of her liked to talk, give sarcastic answers to everybody. And when he stayed quiet it was because something happen.
She also knew that the fewer questions she made, the better, so, instead of asking the infinite number of question that were echoing all the way through her mind, she sat beside him and hugged him, almost immediately felling the strong smell of bourbon.
"She wasn't there…" He mumbled a few minutes after. "Katherine wasn't in the tomb. She knew I was looking for her all this time, and she didn't care…"
The blonde didn't know what to say. Instead of talking, she hugged him tighter.
