1850 - The Challenger Expedition - A deep sea explorer named Michael Sars found a rich array of marine life within the depths of the ocean, therefore refuting the Abyssus theory that once claimed that deep-water life would be impossible. Little did he and anyone else knew at the time that many more undiscovered creatures were lurking beneath the surface...
1904 - Colonel Preston Packard was born on 21st December.
1908 - William "Bill" Randa was born on 20th June.
1908 - A Shock in Tunguska - On 30th June, a sudden and mysterious air burst occurred in the Siberian forests in Russia. To this day, Monarch experts believed that the explosion was the result of a UFO crashing onto Earth.
1915 - Splitting of the Atom - Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity ultimately led to the splitting of the atom and the dawn of the atomic age. The epoch-defining stage in human evolution would eventually act as a beacon that awakened ancient super-species sustained by nuclear energy. Einstein himself had no way of knowing of what terrors his scientific legacy would unleash.
1920 - Dr. Harry Hausen was born on 29th June.
1921 - Hank Marlow was born on 24th May.
1922 - Maximilian "Max" O'Hara was born on 20th November.
1924 - Victor Nieves was born on 23rd May.
1925 - Earl Cole was born on 5th January.
1929 - Professor Ramon De La Porta was born on 14th October.
1930 - Dr. Lorna Jenkins was born on 12th June.
1931 - Gregory "Gregg" Cooper was born on 8th April.
1935 - Dr. Motoyoshi Yamane was born on 12th March.
1937 - James Conrad was born on 9th February.
1938 - Jack Chapman was born on 9th July.
1941 - Captain Makoto Jinguji was born on 17th December.
1942 - Jillian "Jill" Young was born on 7th January.
1943 - Glenn Mills was born on 5th January.
1943 - The USS Lawton Incident - William Randa was assigned to be part of the United States Navy, specifically the USS Lawton in the war against the ships of Imperial Japan. However though, the Lawton ended up separated from the rest of the fleet before getting attacked by a massive unidentified creature and running aground on a small Pacific island. Countless lives were lost in the beast's wrath, leaving Randa behind as the only survivor. Haunted by the memory of that day, Randa would go on to become one of Monarch's foremost operatives, searching for the truth behind the ancient creatures that exist beneath the surface of our world.
1944 - Houston Brooks was born on 21st July.
1944 - Lost and Marooned - Lieutenant Hank Marlow was assigned to the United States Air Force's 45th Fighter Squadron Lieutenant Hank Marlow. However though, his role was short-lived when his plane was shot down in a mysterious uncharted island during an aerial combat against the Air Forces of Imperial Japan. A Japanese fighter pilot named Gunpei Ikari also crash-landed following a dogfight. The two men began to chase deep into the unknown jungles and viciously fought to the death, only to be confronted by a gigantic ape.
1944 - San Lin was born on 22nd October.
1945 - Dr. Ishiro Serizawa was born on 21st April.
1945 - Mason Weaver was born on 1st October.
1946 - Monarch Founded - In the aftermath and cover-up of the USS Lawton incident, then-USA President Harry S. Truman unofficially established the "Monarch Unit", a small, off-book research team in order to engage in the systematic study of MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms). Privately, many of Truman's allies questioned the validity of the group's theories and work in order to keep their existence secret.
1947 - Reg Slivko was born on 27th September.
1948 - Philippe Roaché was born on 30th July.
1949 - Rear Admiral William Stenz, USN was born on 26th January.
1950 - Little Big Ape - An orphaned newborn ape-like creature at only 18 feet was discovered, adopted and named 'Joseph Young' by the Young family during a holiday trip to the mysterious Mondo Island.
1951 - Keith Llewellyn was born on 12th September.
1952 - The Great Smog of London - Baffling meteorologists and physicists as well as defying atmospheric physics, this unexplained weather phenomenon saw London's streets overwhelmed by huge clouds of air-polluting smoke. Monarch agents theorised that the beating wings of a giant creature could've created an anticyclone that unleashed airborne pollutants across the city.
1954 - Monarch Gone Global - As the age of the atom bomb dawned, Monarch expanded into a multinational coalition of scientists and discoverers leading covert missions in order to understand and contain the threat of MUTOs. Authorised unofficially by then-USA President Dwight D. Eisenhower and overseen by General Douglas MacArthur, Monarch planned a containment flotilla under the guise of "testing nuclear weapons" across the Bikini Atoll. However, despite what the public were told and believed, the bombings weren't tests. They were trying to kill it. They were trying to kill "Gojira".
1954 - Jill Llewellyn was born on 9th December.
1955 - Colony in New Mexico - Far underneath Alamogordo in New Mexico, unsuspecting excavators uncovered countless eggs of surprisingly-large sizes. Within such eggs grew 40-foot long ants. What Monarch feared would eventually be revealed to be true: their bombs not only failed to kill old monsters, they ended up creating new ones to come.
1956 - Joseph "Joe" Brody was born on 7th March.
1957 - The Black Sting - A 230-foot long scorpion was spotted emerging during an earthquake in the Baja California Sur before disappearing back into the dusty smoke. When Monarch official quarantined the area, they soon uncovered large catacombs inhabited by more scorpion-esque specimens, resulting in another complete containment.
1958 - Aaron Vaught was born on 4th January.
1959 - Siberian Mystery - At the height of the Cold War, aerial photography taken from a Russian spy plane revealed a huge containment facility established around an ice cap in Siberia. The Monarch symbol could be seen emblazoned across the canopy of the structure.
1959 - Dr. Stanton was born on 10th October.
1960 - Marty Kenoshita was born on 3rd July.
1961 - Cameron Winters was born on 10th March.
1962 - Dr. Niko "Nick" Tatopoulos was born on 21st March.
1962 - Dr. Mendel Craven was born on 15th June.
1963 - 20,000 Fathoms - A 400-foot long super-evolved dinosaur was found in a frozen yet living state and eventually dubbed 'Rhedosaurus' by Dr. Harry Hausen somewhere in the Arctic.
1964 - Sara Brody, wife of Joe Brody and mother of Ford Brody, was born on 9th March.
1964 - Operation Sea Orbit - From the 31st of July to the 3rd of October, the US Navy deployed three nuclear-powered ships around the globe to showcase their long-distance capabilities. Some historians believed that the alleged global "victory gap" had ulterior motives.
1965 - Mark Russell was born on 17th September.
1966 - Horror of the Deep - In the shores of Letchi Island, a 125-foot long prawn-esque creature was spotted by several witnesses before Monarch experts sealed off the entire island into containment. Within this piece of land, Monarch have also discovered another strange and unusual beast that they would eventually dub AERO (Atmospherically Enabled Reptilian Organism).
1967 - Dr. Elsie Chapman was born on 17th March.
1968 - A Cave of Secrets - Deep undergound in the caverns far below Odo Island, a Monarch research team discovered ancient paintings on the cave walls, depicting ageless beasts that would rise again: Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and the King Ghidorah.
1970 - Space Amoeba - In the deep lake within Sergio Island, Monarch established a research and containment station after hearing from the local natives of the three aquatic beasts that lurk below: Gezora, Ganimes, and Kamoebas.
1972 - Miki Saegusa was born on 9th May.
1973 - Mission: Skull - Monarch surreptitiously partnered with Landsat and the 1st Aviation Brigade, 3rd Assault Helicopter Company to mount an expedition to the mythical "Skull Island" in an uncharted corner of the South Pacific. Encountering the 104-foot tall god-like super-species known as Megaprimatus Kong, they soon discovered that mankind never belonged here.
1973 - Dr. Emma Russell was born on 6th August.
1974 - Nelson Fleer was born on 2nd February.
1976 - Dr. Vivienne Graham was born on 27th April.
1978 - Rise of the Gargantuas - Two Frankenstein-esque beings was spotted lurking about in the ruins of Hiroshima before being taken away by Monarch agents to unknown whereabouts. The creatures, in question, would eventually grow into the 115-foot tall 'Gaira', and the 100-foot tall 'Sanda'.
1980 - Tina Llewellyn, daughter of Keith and Jill Llewellyn, was born on 25th February.
1985 - Ford Brody, son of Joe and Sara Brody, was born in 13th June.
1986 - Yucca Mountain - Congress selected the remote Yucca Mountain in Nevada as the first high-level nuclear waste repository site. Far from prying eyes, this high-security atomic graveyard eventually became the very place where the most powerful nation in the world would hide its deadliest secrets.
1987 - The Three Guardians - In the deepest regions of Lagos Island, a tablet left behind by ancient powers was found and recovered by a Monarch reconnaissance group led by Dr. Yamane. In it, contained various text and drawings regarding three creatures or "guardians" from unknown times named: Varan, Maguma, and Anguirus.
1989 - Elle Brody, wife of Ford Brody, was born on 16th February.
1991 - Isla de Mona - A covert Monarch team established a quarantine zone around the island's dormant volcano, under the guise of 'environmental research'. Over the coming years, what began as a small scientific outpost would eventually expand to become a full containment facility around the mouth of the volcano.
1991 - Colonel Martinez was born on 1st November.
1992 - The Mighty Joe - Joe Young had grown from 18 feet to 18 metres (a staggering 60 feet).
1993 - The Search for Mu - Aaron Vaught, a linguist and cartographer, joined a crew of explorers, mercenaries and even Monarch agents on the drill-tipped submarine dubbed the 'Atragon' to find the mysterious lost kingdom of Mu. It was there they truly recognised the mysterious powers that laid within, from the 1000-foot long serpent guardian Manda, to what the remaining native people called the "Sacred Heart of Mu"; a large, floating and glowing crystal which Vaught believed to be a source of untold power and magic.
1995 - Return to Skull Island - Monarch security officer Aaron Brooks defied his father Houston Brooks and led an off-the-books mission to Skull Island, to determine what has become of Kong since the 1973 expedition.
1996 - Kristina Sumres was born on 8th July.
1998 - Terror in New York - A monster awakened by a nuclear test in French Polynesia arrived to New York City. There, the monster, eventually dubbed GINO (Gigantic Irradiated Nuclear Organism) laid over 200 eggs in the Madison Square Garden. The newborn creatures soon hatched and attempted to escape, but were killed when the building was bombed. GINO then reemerged and attacked in revenge, but was lured to the Brooklyn Bridge, where it was entangled in the suspension cables and killed by three F-18 Hornets before its body was quickly escorted away by helicopters under Monarch orders in the hopes of research.
1999 - Janjira Meltdown - In a subterranean hazmat investigation, Monarch were led to a massive pithole in the Philippine Highlands believed to have been caused by a collapsed cave-in; within they uncovered titanic fossils as well as what seemed to be a pair of parasitic spore eggs. Following an explosive disaster of the Janjira power plant, resulting in countless casualties (including Sara Brody), Monarch established a quarantine zone in its place just outside of Tokyo. What the global public never knew was that the Janjira quarantine zone was in reality a containment facility established around a dormant MUTO. Meanwhile, the other remaining spore was taken to a nuclear waste repository within the Yucca Mountain in the US state of Nevada.
2000 - Lucy Casprell was born on 19th June.
2003 - Military Experiments - A world-record power outage forced seventeen nuclear power plants to shut down across America's northeastern seaboard. Some conspiracy theorists pointed their fingers at a supposed "military experiment" gone haywire. Whether this was even the case or otherwise remained unknown to this, but one thing sure, something must've caused such a large-scale electromagnetic disruption.
2004 - Madison Russell was born on 19th February.
2005 - A Mysterious Mercenary - Former British Army Colonel and MI6 agent Jonah Alan was locked up in Pakistani prison after an encounter with Monarch agents. Alan and his band of mercenary accomplices were caught trying to breach the walls of a subterranean MUTO dig-site.
2009 - Temple of the Moth - Mythographic studies of Chinese temples led Monach to the high-altitude jungles of the Yunnan province. Dr. Emma Russell and her team followed a mysterious bio-acoustic signature to a previously undiscovered megalithic temple, within which laid a gigantic cocoon. A quickening heartbeat was detected inside.
2012 - Message in a Bottle - Just mere days before retirement, Monarch veteran Houston Brooks received a coded message from his son. The mission to Skull Island had revealed dramatic new information about Kong's origins, and his role on the island.
2013 - Sinkhole Interference - All over the world, a series of leaked images revealed mysterious and apparent government interference at certain "sinkhole sites". Speculation soon began to run wild about the Monarch organisation's involvement, as well as their continuous hunt for MUTOs.
2014 - The Battle of San Francisco - The existence of giant super-species was finally revealed at last to the world as the 355-foot tall Godzilla clashes with the two MUTOs from Janjira and Nevada in the centre of San Francisco. Unleashing devastation upon the urban city, the world watched as Godzilla defended our world and restored balance to the natural order. The time had inevitably come for Monarch to step out of the shadows.
2016 - Monster Zero - When Monarch discovered an extraordinary super-species sealed beneath the Antarctic ice sheet, Dr. Vivienne Graham led the effort to build a covert containment and research facility around the dormant creature. Her classified field notes contained a mysterious footnote: "The devil has three heads..."
2019 - King of Monsters - Agents of Monarch will have to face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who will collide with Mothra, Rodan, and the ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. Once these ancient super-species, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they shall all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance.
2020 - God vs. King - The God of Odo Island and the King of Skull Island will meet, and a duel between the two is inevitable. Let them fight...
