Introduction

No.

Not true.
It wasn't true.

Waves of excruciating, emotional pain found their way deep into his heart. It could not be true. He could breathe. The room closed around him as he felt his fists tighten.

There it was, resting in her hand, a small, pale yellow-colored origami flower.

"Thank you for protecting us until now!"

No. He couldn't look at her in the eyes…she'd see his pain.

"Kira?" she finally spoke, shattering the silence. He couldn't hear her, though; he was still focusing on what happened before.

"You solider-wannabe cowards, think you can run away from me?"

His blood pounded in his ears as he maneuvered the Strike forward in a sudden thrust towards the shuttle. It wasn't quick enough. He knew that the pilot of the Duel was going to fire. Please…don't do this, he thought.

"Don't do it! They're only civilians!" he called out, knowing it was probably useless.

I'm almost there…almost…

It wasn't quick enough.

There it was, resting in her hands…and he had to take it.

"Oh…" Kira slowly spoke, walking towards her. He couldn't do it…he could barely walk as his body began to shake. "-Yeah…"

Just reach out and grab it. You have to. Don't be upset.

Kira gently reached towards the gift…and then stopped when it touched his fingers. Emotional sensations took over in his heart and began to shiver even more so…

"Thank you…" he said before he stumbled away…until he stopped once more.

It's not true.
