I don't own SVU I am just a huge fan :)
To Whom It May Concern:
To whom it may concern you don't know what you did to me,
When you took my innocents, my childhood, my everything.
You used me, abused me and took everything from me,
My family, friends, and my sanity.
You locked me, broke me and tore me apart,
Made me beg for my life and took me too far.
Made me to despicable things to you,
Such horrible stuff no human being should do.
Shoved guns, brooms and everything you could imagine up me so high,
Told me you would kill me if I cry.
With the gun up in me you pulled the trigger,
The repair from that put me through the ringer.
Took my women hood, my faith and my pride,
You made me want to run and die.
Raped and killed my little girl,
I can remember still the blood in her little curls.
She was only a baby; only five,
You took her away from me in a blink of an eye.
Killed my husband in front of me with a gun,
Stopped me when I tried to run.
Because of you I live in fear every day,
Can't live my life in anyway.
Two years have passed; I have a new life,
But still I don't feel alive.
I'm in a different country, life's fresh and new.
Changed my name and everything, still I say screw you.
Can't change the past, but I am starting to move on,
I got out of your hands so I won.
I even started a group for other women like myself,
Who has been through so much and need my help.
I am learning slowly that I am not alone,
And that no one should make me feel disowned.
I won't let anyone rape or touch me again,
If they try my hand gun is going through their head!

This is for all the women who live in the Congo, and been through hell. It is so horrible what happens to them. I wanted to give all these women a voice to be heard so I wrote a poem about it. The episode of Law and Order SVU "Witness" inspired me to write this. I also did the Vagina Monologue a week previous to this episode's airing at my college, and it made me aware about the Congo. I did a field placement at my college's Women's Centre last Febuary- April, and we advocatd for weeks about the Congo. I am going into my second year of Social Service Worker (and finale year :) ) to become a crisis counsellor. It's ironic, but made me think more after seein the SVU's episode. Enjoy this poem I wrote others but no correlation to this one. If you want me to write another one or have a suggestion or question for me please contact me either through here, or email me at alicia_marie_ .
I sent this into Mariska Hargitay herself when a friend of mine went to NYC and gave her a scrapbook we ( and other friends made), so I hope she enjoyed this :)
